Just made the switch from Apple, about 2 months with Android and it seems to lag. Especially internet browsing
I can use it and it does its job
But little things annoy me.
Home button when clicked not as Smooth as it was out of box, takes about 2 secounds.
Samsung's internet browser lags
Tried chrome, it lags.

Is there something I can do in settings ?
I'm using the S6 edge

Please help

Welcome to Android Central :)
You can try wiping the cache partition on your phone. With your phone off, hold home + volume up + power for a few seconds. When you see the "Recovery booting..." in the corner, let go. Then use the volume buttons to scroll down to "Wipe cache" and press power to select the option. You can reboot after that

Most people who switch from an iPhone to android get into a habit of comparing the two. They should if they have to. But it doesn't do them any good. You've bought the phone and made the switch, now you have to deal with the good and bad things that come along with it.

Anyways, I'm not going to go into IOS vs Android war here. Although I'm an android guy. And I switched from 4 years of using IOS.

Most switchers notice a bit of lag and start trying to fix the situation. So did I the first time I switched. They start using cleaning tools etc. Now I don't know if you did the same but if you did, clean up all your cleaning tools. Just get rid of them. These cleaning apps get deep into the system and instead of boosting up performance, they slow the phone down. If not, then that's just the way the phone is. It does so many things amazingly at the cost of being a bit laggy sometimes.

Secondly, the home button issue is unusual with the S6. If you have assigned any apps to home button other than "going home" then reset it. For example many android users use it to launch certain apps. That slows down the functionality of the home button. If not, then check if there's a hardware issue with the button. If nothing works then do what the person above has stated.

I don't understand what you mean by the browser lagging.

I'm just saying, don't get hyped into this lagging issue. Yes, the S6 isn't as smooth as the iPhone or the nexus devices. It's a bit laggy and blocky in performance. Don't TRY to make your S6 work flawlessly. If you let it go you'll forget noticing such things. Of course a 2 second lag is hard to leave unnoticed and needs to get resolved. But otherwise, a little lag won't kill nobody.

Relax.

A simple reboot every morning keeps my s6 in tip-top shape. 30 sec out of my day seems worth it to me. A lot of ios folks think this shouldn't be necessary so they gripe about it. Why? No idea. Like I said 30 sec. Enjoy your s6.

Well thanks!
What I meant with internet lag is noticed onn certain websites. When scrolling down it appears very blotchy and not smooth.

What do most users use for browser
The Samsung supplied we browser or something else like chrome ?

I find the stock Samsung browser much faster than chrome.

Don't worry it gets worse with time. But you will get faster setting back up after a hard reset.

What's funny is my wife's HTC E8 is just as fast now as the day we bought it....and that was a year ago. No clearing of cache, factory resets, nothing.

When was the last time you took an OTA update? Did you wipe at least the system cache via recovery mode? If you went from 5.0.2 to 5.1.1. I'd suggest doing a full factory reset. Just something recommended when making a big jump in firmware.

Are you using touchwiz still?

Yes I use TW
I did the cash thing.
I have not done a factory reset.
Anything I should back up ?

You can backup what you need, but you don't have to back up anything. I'd avoid backing up and restoring as much as possible.

HTC software is on the money!

dreaming of electric sheep

I'm on 5.1.1, rarely reboot the phone, no factory resets and it's still zipping along. I have found that Power Saving mode makes the phone annoyingly laggy. My battery life is fine without it, so I stopped using it.

I did this and no lag.

From the recovery menu
1- wipe to factory setting 3 times
2- wipe cache 3 times.
3- when Android start first time delete all the widgets and icons.
4- download nova launcher and use as your default launcher.

Use chrome. Go to the play store and search for Chrome Samsung Support Library. This speeds chrome up a bit.
I do see some sites that stutter, but rarely.

Hi,

I'm a recent iOS to Android convert. Really happy with the move - opting for the S6 Edge Plus. I'm also a developer and would just like to shed my views on what I believe to be absolute crazy advice.

People should not have to "get used" to lower grade performance. When you know better can be achieved, you certainly hope the giant that is Google has the brain power to be able to at least achieve a very similar standard when it comes to screen perceptive responsiveness.

I have noticed it since the move too and although it's extremely better than it used to be, it still is not good enough and I certainly shouldn't hope the answer to it should be to settle with it and accept it because that's not how progress is made - especially when it's probably the only main issue android has in terms of performance.

I am happy to live with it now because of the sheer flexibility that android offers and it not being no where near as bad as it used to be.

This is probably the main issue iOS to Android have with the OS and if Google want Android to increase market share even more then targeting this issue head on is definitely going to be a substantial crowd pleaser - I suspect even amongst the already well-established android fans.

What is considered a reboot? Simply shutting the phone off and then back on?
