Hello all,
there is suppose to be an upgrade to the OS that allows moving apps to the SD

My carrier is att&t. With my old iphone is was pretty easy to know when and how a OS upgrade was available.

In this new for me realm of android, how to i get this information(os updates)? How do i know when its available and how to update the device

Thanks

As far as I know, no US carriers have released this update yet. Unlike iPhones or Nexus Android devices, updates are not released directly by the manufacturer, but rather (in this case) Samsung provides the update to AT&T, who then run it through their QA process, and then you receive the update from AT&T once they have vetted and released it. This process can take several weeks to months, depending on the content of the update and your carrier's processes.

There also is not usually too much advanced notice as to when an update will be released -- best advice is just to check your phone every then and/or keep up with the forums.

In the main page of AC today there was a message stating that Sprint was sending ann OTA upgrade which was the one dealing with SD card and apps. So I am thinking that it won't be long for the other providers to send theirs to us.

I'm with AT&T and when I checked for software updates this morning there was one available for GS4s. However, my battery charge is pretty low so I wasn't able to install the updates until I get a hold of a charger (which would be when I get home tonight). Let me know if you're able to download the software updates from AT&T and what changes it brings.

i am installing the update now
is there somewhere on the device or online to see what this update has?

thanks

Just installed it
It does now allow me to move some of my apps to my SD card.
Need to research why some the move to SD card is grayed out

Those apps are greyed out because the app can't be moved. Until the developer enables it, you won't be able to.
