Newbie to Droid X - simple question

Hello. I got my Droid X on TUESDAY, August 24th. Yes, very new still. I love it. BUT... I cannot figure out HOW TO LOCK IT. I see the slide lock - to OPEN it, but I don't know how to lock it back up. Right now I am just waiting for the screen to go black before I put it in my purse. NOT what I want to be doing for the next two years.

Can someone help me please?
