News Republic App replacing Blinkfeed is awful

Does anyone know how to view the news that pops up in the notification bar after it is swiped away?

OK, this simply sucks. I didn't buy the HTC One to be force feed ads and news. You can't turn this off. HTC really? If Verizon doesn't fix this I'm moving all my account to another carrier.

I got rid of that M9 trash back in April and will never get another HTC phone again. Their brand is just dying a slow deserved death. This sellout News Republic fiasco was just a microcosm.the crappy battery life made it impossible to even last half a day a year after I bought it.

Can anyone tell me how to turn off notifications from News Republic on my HTC 10? I have disabled the app and it keeps turning back on. Since it can not be deleted from this phone I need it to stop popping up with news items for me to read. I did a total factory reset on my phone to fix some other issues and now News Republic is driving me crazy.

Go to settings>apps>news republic>notifications>block all.

Ditto. There seems to be no way to avoid soccer and Russian/troll/fake news services via News Republic . Other options for HTC Sense users. Perez Hilton looks deep compared with some of the stuff showing up.

This thing is unbelievably annoying. I've "disabled" push notifications and "uninstalled" it three times now; it reappears every time I restart my phone, peeking notifications with tabloid garbage. I never chose to use or install this app, and it won't go away.

I'd recommend emailing and tweeting at @htc, @NewsRepublic and the News Republic "community manager":
