I do like honor but I can't recommend anything other than apple, and perhaps a carrier phonesimply because Huawei repair is not on par with Apple where you can bring it in and get it fixed same day. With carrier I can get a replacement next day. But with Huawei you gotta send it in, then wait for inspection and repair and them sending it back. This is fine for those with multiple phones but many people I deal with have only one phone. It's too bad that Honor has not gained too much recognition in the States. It's very similar here in Canada, too. I have yet to see another person with an Honor 8; or an Honor device in general. Huawei itself, however, seems to be doing better with its Mate line. Not sure how the P-series phones are doing, but I sure like them! Haha.
It'd be great to see more of an Honor presence in North America. It's sad because I think a lot of users will merely go for "what's in" as opposed to trying something different. Sure, trying anything new is always a gamble; but with some research users would see that these products still deliver an exemplary experience - at a fraction of the cost of flagships like Apple and Samsung.
But as others have pointed out, we phone geeks are often the exception when it comes to doing lots of our own research and trying new or "unique" devices.
Now if they are looking for a cheap phone, like the honor 8 right now then I can recommend it with some caveats. But the Mate 9 or mate 10 or whatever... Sorry can not recommend it to regular people without carrier support because of the higher price tag and warranty service procedure.
