"Next" lock screen app not always the default

I use the "Next" lock screen app and, for the most part, really like it. But it seems about 10% of the time I'll swipe it to unlock only to have to swipe open the stock lock screen as well. Any idea how to make that more consistent?

I have had this same issue happening. It was really bugging me at first. It still does, but it happens less often now. I'm not sure what could be causing it to do this.
