Next Sprint Phone??

Hello Everyone,

Good information here but there is some things that bothers me about this whole LTE thing. I to have the EVO 4G and love the phone. The only problem I have with it is the 4G, I have never had 4G since I have had my phone. It is in some area's but never has been in mine. Also the unlimited data bothers me, sure I have unlimited 3G data but my speed is so slow, no wonder the can offer unlimited....Sometimes I think my old Blackberry was faster. The last thing is the LTE, is it going to be like 4G? only is some area's, and never in mine....???

Three serious area's that I will be asking myself before I move out of my EVO.......!!!!!

Unlimited data applies to 4g too. I use my phone to watch Netflix and play call of duty multiplayer via wireless tethering and am yet to be charged by sprint

Don't have 4G, and i'm not rooted so can't wireless teather....??

You can tether with your usb cord to a laptop or desktop. You'll be running at 3g speeds though.

Yeah I'm not getting the new nexus coming out. I mean if its like Verizon's then I'll just wait for HTC. I love HTC phones, I can't stand Samsung ones, ever. My Evo is def struggling to keep up these days though. It keeps constantly rebooting almost every day at least once. The apps keep getting bigger and requiring more Ram with each update. I hope I can make it till HTC rolls their new phone.

With that said though, which phone is Sprint getting from HTC? That's got me confused.

Someone mentioned that they are getting the Jet or a similar model. Also Samsung Nexus galaxy and LG viper. Here is a link with more info. Upcoming Sprint phones

My point is data is unlimited regardless of 3g or 4g guy. You made it sound as if sprint offers unlimited data b/c no one has 4g coverage. Sorry you don't have coverage in your area. What i was trying to do was give you a example of how good it works if/when you get coverage. And if you want to tether without paying...root. Thought you knew that

yes thanks, I understand it's unlimited on 3g or 4g. But my speeds are not that great on either one. Yes I know I can root and I completely understand what your are saying.

You no longer need to root to turn most Android phones into wireless hotspots. You can see if FoxFi works for your phone.

It's an issue with Sprint's deployment of WiMAX. WiMAX was on its way out nearly as soon as they started... something like three months after the Evo 4G was released, we knew that Sprint would eventually be switching 4G from WiMAX to LTE... so Sprint's WiMAX never got as much coverage as one would hope.

That makes no difference in terms of Sprint's unlimited data plans for cell phones. 3G is unlimited. 4G is also unlimited. Sprint is supposedly upgrading their 3G speeds as part of their Network Vision program, though I've yet to see any change in the 3G speeds in my area.

Initially, I would expect Sprint's LTE build-out to be similar to WiMAX--they need time to make it available nationwide. Since it seems like LTE is going to be here to stay for quite some time (both Verizon and AT&T are also building their LTE networks), we can expect much better nationwide LTE coverage from Sprint.

It will still take some time, however.

Seems to me you only really had one question--Whether or not LTE will be available in your area should you switch to a new LTE-capable phone.

In your case, I think what you should consider is this: Since Sprint's not going to continue to build their WiMAX network, your Evo 4G is never going to see 4G in your area. Given this, what difference would it make for you if you switched to any other smartphone on Sprint's network? At the very least, you'll still have Sprint 3G. If you get a phone that's LTE-capable, eventually, you should have LTE in your area.

I had brought my phone in to one of the sprint stores to have something fixed. The tech girl that was working on my phone was talking about the new LTE service. She said that they (sprint) will be putting up LTE towers like crazy this year. I told her that I had the EVO 4g and was probably not going to have any improvement in my 4G. She said that all the new LTE towers that are going up will be dual signals, LTE and wimax. She said that it will greatly increase the wimax coverage. Hopefully she knew what she was talking about.

You don't have to pay anything to tether your phone. There are a few free apps on the market and all you need is a cord to plug into your laptop/computer.
