Nexus 1 sold at Verizon stores?

This is probably because VZW doesn't earn a cut from the sale of any unlocked phone. Therefore, they have no incentive to advertise it.

They make money selling the subscription service,

$39.00 a month of voice or more and $30.00 a month for data.

Or $69.00 a month for unlimited voice and 30 a month for data.

Even at $69.00 a month per line, several million lines, they will make plenty.

Yep plus that data that you would have to pay for is going straight. To their pocket. Instead of paying the manufacturer

The question will be, will they make more selling Droids in their own stores or by having Google sell Nexus Ones? Remember, part of the T-Mobile deal with Google is that Google gets a fee after 120 days from T-Mobile for every subsidized customer.

I still think that Verizon would rather you come into their store (or order online or over the phone) because when they have you in the store, they also have you looking over spare car chargers, cases, batteries, screen protectors, etc. And they still get all of that money you list above for every Droid that they sell.

I just want the wait to be over.. I don't care if they sell it in store or not - just release the darn thing.

Because if they do not make the release date it would only cause bad press. I am sure as it gets closer and they are sure about a release date they will release a solid date.

You do bring a valid point here. But when it comes down to it, Verizon knows many people are waiting for the N1 on their network over Tm. So they'll make lots and lots of money without it being in their stores regardless! Don't forget, they make all the money off the plan, not the device! Same goes for printers and the ink, video game systems and the games.

But yes, they would rather have people in store so they can have their own sales team conduct business, because their associates are trained to sell attachments onto the phone (Warranty, screen protectors, chargers, extra batteries, ect). But I have a feeling they'll be able to do this easily enough since the second most people get their N1 they'll be in store buying all the goodies for it (whatever goodies google allows them to have that is).

There are two reason I think (just my opinion) that Verizon will at least sell the N1 online if not in their stores.

1. What about the new every two deal they offer. This could be still given in a mail in rebate or something like that but people want instant gratification.

2. Since Verizon is in love with buy one get one free, only allowing Google to sell the phone reduces the chance of getting 2 customers. How many people want a smartphone and end up getting one for a friend, spouse, etc... because it's free?

Just a though.

All you need to do is go to google.com/phone and you will see that they are making a Verizon Nexus one. No need to speculate, it's happening, but the problem is that in true Verizon style, by the time it passes Technical Acceptance the Nexus Two will be out lol Hopefully it will be something along the lines of what they did with the Pre and Pixie, improved them and added the Plus moniker.

It's not a matter of allowing Google to do anything. They have an exclusive with TMobile and this is a provision in that. TMo gets to be the only carrier to sell it for a specific period but Google retains the right to sell it unlocked themselves.

I am starting to agree with the other post about nexus and incredible at the same time. I personally think the HTC Incredible will be ready to sell at the same time the Nexus will be. This will be very interesting to watch. You could definitely do the BOGO with the Incredible.

I don't think you'll see it in stores - that would completely go against Google's approach - cutting the carrier out of the equation.... Maybe online through VZW's site - since that requires little investment, and would probably just be linked back to Google's ordering system in the background...

Carriers need to be eliminated from the handset business...
