Hi

I'm thinking of gettting a nexus 10 but I need some answers first.

1. Does it have a normal USB Port so that I can connect it to my camera which has an AV Out Digital socket and HDMI?
2.Or can I get a lead that would connect either of these to the Nexus 10?
3.Are there apps I can down load to be able to edit Excel files with formulas? My Lottery spreadsheet which on input lets me know if I have won anything or not!
4.Is it good for Skyping?
5.I'm going travelling do I need to buy a sim card for each country to be able to access the internet (poss remote areas) or is there another means of connecting?

Hope you can help

Many thanks

Shona

1.) It has a micro USB port.
2.) You can get a OTG cable pretty cheap which will have the micro male on one end and a female full size USB on the other end. Get one with a straight end, not a right angle end.
3.) Google Drive has utilities for editing Word docs and Excel files. However, they convert them to Google's format. You can download Google Drive for PC to keep working on them from either end and keep them sync'd.
4.) Shype works fine.
5.) The Nexus 10 does not have a SIM slot nor cellular capabilities. It is wifi only.

Thanks for your reply.

Going back to point 1 & 2 do you know if you can get micro usb cable to an AV Out Digital socket or HDMI?

I'm thinking I may need to take the photos from my SD card in the camera to the tablet and then transfer them to drop box or similar storage area.

On point 5 would I be better getting a tablet with a sim card (of the country) do you think? We will be using this mainly when we are travelling and probably looking for accommodation and maps.

If so any suggestions?

Many thanks for your help

I am a little confused as to what the AV Out is for. Once you transfer the pictures/video to the tab you can either display them on the screen OR use the micro HDMI out on the N10 to display them on a TV.

You are confused!

I have a Lumix DMC-TZ10 camera which has two outlets. One being an AV out which I can use to transfer files with a lead from the camera/SD card to my computer via a normal USB lead.

I want to be able to transfer files from the SD card to Tablet and then to some other storage area.

Hope that clarifies what I will want to do..

Wait to hear from you - many thanks

Do not know the answer to the cable question, but you can plug in a USB card reader with your SD card in it to the OTG cable I mentioned. You'll also need an app for the cable to function. Nexus Media Importer works perfectly with the Nexus 10: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=nexus%20media%20importer&c=apps In either event, not sure why your current cables would not work with the OTG cable.

Finding a 10" table with a SIM card slot may prove difficult. The new Nexus 7 just out is supposed to arrive soon with an LTE option. But, not sure how well that will work in Europe. You might wish to look at some other tablet options with GSM capabilities. Or, get an unlocked GSM smartphone and buy local SIMs. Either way, "remote areas" may not get you any reasonable internet coverage.

If the av out from your camera has a USB plug at the end then it should work with the Nexus 10, an OTG cable and possibly the media importer app.
