I was trying to put a new nightly of AOKP onto my phone and after the google logo screen it just stays at a black screen. I can go back to clockwork mod and fastboot mode but nothing else. Can someone point me in the right direction ?

hmm, you made sure that the zip file didnt have any problems(Corrupt, incomplete download etc.)? If did you wipe your cache and factory reset your phone?

You should check out the official aokp thread over at xda.

[ROM] AOKP :: [4.2.2] jb-mr1 :: Milestone 2 / [4.3.1] jb-mr2 :: Nightlies :: mako - xda-developers

The last official build was pulled off goo because it didn't boot.

Just restore your nandroid.

Sent from my Nexus⁴ (:p)

On the off chance you don't have a nandroid, use WugFresh's Toolkit to either restore Stock or to push the .zip files of another custom ROM.

Are you using a custom boot animation? If you are, delete the bootanimation.zip file from /system/media
