I'm not sure. There was something I didn't recognize in the left hand side of the status bar, and when I pulled it down, there was a message that I had an update available. I think it may have been the "system update available" at the bottom of https://support.google.com/android/answer/168454?hl=en but I really didn't look that closely. (Hard to make out those little icons with bifocals sometimeswhat icon?
I did the same and got 4.4. Same with 4.3. Only things I had to do was readd my Google account. Turn location back on. Never factory reset when I got 4.3 . so it's not that annoying

I never had to do a factory reset either BUT my Gmail accounts no longer synced and there were problems in buying apps from the Play store. Deleting the Gmail accounts and then re-adding fixed that. Many notifications from apps no longer worked. I had to delete the apps and install again. Sync also no longer worked and I didn't realize it right away. It took a while to get everything to work again but you never have to do a reset.Already read that. Still have not had issues since I did that same way to hey 4.3. Never have do a factory reset.

Got downloaded 4.4.2 finally and installed on my Nexus 4.
Now the issue is when I switch over to ART it says No Sim inserted and then the phone freezes and I have to reboot so had to switch back to dalvik. Any idea what could be wrong?
