Nexus 4 making a faint click noise when on silent

Hi,

In no way is this a complaint or enough of an issue to warrant an RMA, I'm just intrigued to find out if anyone else has noticed the same as me.

When I go to bed I always put my phone on silent so I'm not woken during the night, also I like to check my phone when I wake up and keep it on silent so I don't wake the Mrs with loads of clicking.

What I have noticed is that when my phone is set to silent, sometimes I'm sure I can still hear a very faint click when I click on an app, click on a story within a news thread or open an email......it only happens sometimes though and not all the time, it's that faint I can only hear it in complete silence.

Now I'm not sure if it's just me, but let me know if you have experienced the same so I know I'm not going mad!

Thanks.

Andy.

What do you mean by silent? And how do you go about changing it. The reason I ask is you can have the phone at the lowest volume, and then vibrate and then silent.

Hi,

By silent I mean when the power button is held and the icon with the slash through the speaker is clicked.

Andy.

That is weird.. tried to recreate it but cant hear anything except my fingers tapping. You are sure its definitely the touch sounds and not maybe your fingers just making sound when tapping, earpiece or back speaker? Never heard of that issue but dont be afraid to RMA.

It really doesn't bother me enough to return!

I have sometimes heard it when I have touched the screen really lightly, it is very odd. It is the faintest of clicks though and I'm at a loss as to what it could be?

Maybe I'm just going mad?!

sounds related to the HAPTIC FEEDBACK feature.

Sent from my totally awesome Sprint Galaxy Nexus, even if I don't know all its secrets yet.

Adding on: in system sounds, see if you have "vibrate on touch" enabled.

Hi,

Vibrate on touch wasn't enabled. In either the keyboard or system sound settings.

hmmm... I don't have the same phone so don't know if there is somewhere else you should check. That really sounds like the issue so I'm convinced it is somehow enabled. Also, as an aside, look into downloading Power Toggle. You can use it to toggle between silent modes. I feel like doing it with the power button was ruining my power button. Like I had to push down harder over time to get it to react.

Check the settings on all of your keyboards. Also, enable the one in the sound settings, reboot, disable, reboot and see if that makes it go away.

I've just noticed the exact same thing, except it DOES bother me... I have no idea what it could be. If you listen closely to the speaker on the back of the phone, you can hear something, like when you turn some speakers on really high without them reproducing sound.
I love my Nexus but I'm not too pleased with the build quality, and because I'm living in South America, I can't ask Google to replace it!

Mine does this sometimes as well. I have touch sounds enabled and it sounds like it starts to play the sound then remembers it's on silent/vibrate and clips it off right as it starts.

My nexus 4 is about a tear and a half old and I know exactly what you're talking about. It doesn't bother me I'm just curios. I love the nexus and hope it doesn't stop working, and hopijtnthat this isn't a sign of age. Did this problem effect anyone else in a negative way other than just the small noise?
