Nexus 4 not detected as device on Mac

I have a Nexus 4 and it doesn't get detected as a device when connected to my Mac using the usb cable. Previously it would get detected and iPhoto would open and I then had options to sync photos. I have tried several cables and it doesn't get detected on the Mac. I also thought to transfer the files using Android File Transfer app, but it pops up a "No Android device found" message.

Does someone have any ideas to transfer the photos / get the device detected again?
