Hi, I just received my nexus 4 in the mail. I live in Canada and am currently with Mobilicity. The sim card was too big for the nexus 4 as it needs a micro sim. I tried cutting it.. which was probably one of the stupidest things i've done but I did it anyways.. I hardly got it to fit the little sim tray. I managed to push it back into the slot. When I turned on the phone, the sim isn't working. I tried it mulitple times and waited a bit and it's not working so I think I might have damaged my sim by cutting it. I'm gonna buy a new one but the problem is, I can't even open the slot anymore. I think since I hardly pushed the card into the tray, it barely fit and now that its in the slot, it's stuck. What should I do? It just won't open and I feel like crying :(

Also, this is my first post. I just joined and I'm not a tech-savy person at all so please bear with my stupid question(s).

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this??

If you can't get the tray to pop out on your own, try taking it to a local phone repair shop and see if they can do it.

Maybe i'm just being a bit rude but it always amazes me how people buy things (like a Nexus 4) that costs nearly 400 CDN for an 8gb and cheap out on a 10 dollar sim card (that's what I paid here in Montreal). Sorry man Lol its like buying a Ferrari and saying gas is too expensive so i'll fill it with 20 bucks. Anyhow put the little tool in the hole and press it (not too hard but give it a good push) and the tray should budge a little. If you manage to get the tray out even a little then take a small pin/something really thin and try to wedge it between the phone and the tray. You've done exactly what my buddy did and with a little patience this worked.

I wouldn't try too hard to force it open. If you can't get it with a little gentle wiggling after using the tool they give you, I would take it to a store. For future reference, I just got my phone delivered yesterday. I realized when I opened it that I needed a micro SIM and had a regular SIM in my old phone. I called t-mobile to find out if I could just drop by any store to pick one one. They said yes. I asked if there was any charge, and she said it would be between $39.99 and $49.99. Well, I nearly had a stroke. I wouldn't have complained if it was a reasonable fee- maybe $10 for their time. But that was outrageous. She said because I bought it from google instead of t-mobile I had the fee. If I bought from t-mobile it would be free. The reason I bought from Google is it was cheaper. I save $20 a month on a plan that doesn't give subsidies (this makes much more sense over the life of the phone.)

I told her that was outrageous and that if I had to pay that fee, the second my contract was up I would leave t-mobile and never be their customer again. I asked if they could waive or reduce it. She put me on hold for 10 minutes then came back and said since I was a loyal customer they would waive the fee. She made a note in my file and gave me her name and employee reference number in case there was any problem. I went to a store 20 minutes later and got a new card with no fee. It never hurts to ask with things like this. Especially since churn is such an issue for the carriers.

@Adam514 Lol you're right man. I should have been patient and just gone out and gotten a new one. I regret it. I hope I can fix it myself, I really don't feel like going out in this weather.. its snowing like hell outside. It also doesn't help that I should be studying for a midterm right now but opening this slot is the only thing on my mind right now ahh lol

i pulled out the sim card tray and also sim adapter. but after that if i insert the sim card , it says no sim card error but it searches the mobile network and says this sim card doesnt allow this connection.. any one could try an solution fof this pls?

You must power off the phone and then power back on (reboot) so the Sim can be recognized.

Did you do that?

yes i did that... but it is not working.. i would wonder if anything happened inside the sim card chip when i tried to pull out the sim card and adpter? pls suggest what can i do now? i tried factory reset also..

Sanjay, have you called your provider? You do have to activate the card and give them your EMEI number. I suggest calling them, they would be the ones who could help you.

sorry . i treid 3 different sim card. first time after it gets stucked my phone got activated. but after that inserting the same sim card it is not working . i tried pulling out nano sim adapter what i did previously.

Same problem goes with me too. It says ''your sim card doesnt allow a connection to this network''.
I need to check with network provider whether they need to do something at their end or what...........

I also tried with another different service provider, same problem. Means prob is with Nexus 4, not service provider.
