Hi
My nexus 4 has an odd problem. It randomly carries out shutdowns while it is asleep so when I next look at it the phone is off. Occasionally you can hear the vibration as it shuts itself off but usually it is just off when I pick it up. It starts normally when I power it back on.
This is not a re-boot or a crash, the phone does a normal shutdown, only it is instigated by the phone rather than the user! The battery level stays the same and does not overheat. It has not yet happened when the phone is being charged, under load or when the screen is on. It is possible that an event such as an email or calendar notification triggers the shutdown, but the only time I have seen it is when I woke the screen once and it shut down at the same time. Some days it stays on all day, others it will shut itself down 5 - 6 times.
It has the latest version of JB and is not rooted. I have factory reset it many times and my network provider have replaced the battery which did nothing (except give it a newer battery). It happens with the sim in or out, with no apps installed or all apps installed, wifi on or off so basically I am wondering if anyone else has this issue and looking for some assistance to troubleshoot what to do next. I'm guessing the power supply is being mismanaged
and some system event is being wrongly interpreted as 'time to shutdown to save the phone'
It's a bit of a downer, but at least me ol HTC Desire is still chugging away until this damn problem is sorted.
BTW, my network provider, who I purchased the phone from 6 months ago, is not (yet) replacing it.
