Hi
New to the forum, daughter has a 16gb model, not used as a phone yet as we are waiting for a micro sim card, however being unable to resist she has added apps already and is keen to use it,

She just said....1st problem, it's turning itself off and rebooting, something we bought a new phone for as her old samsung ace does this, anyone able to help advise why it's doing this already annoying thing?

Well, we need a little more to go on. If this is a pattern of behavior across multiple devices, then it is hard to exclude user error.

Have you tried hard-resetting the phone yet? Just leave it run in a stock configuration and see what happens?

Once you can establish that you've got good hardware, then try adding in desired apps one at a time until (if at all) the problem re-appears. Then at least you'll know the true cause.

Thanks for your prompt response tall Mike. Sorry but we are a little thick here, what is hard resetting? Is it something that should be done prior to use? What is stock configuration?

My Nexus 4 is doing the same thing. Had it since January (RMA replacement for my first one that I got on launch day), just started rebooting about a week ago. Unlocked bootloader but stock 4.3 (flashed the factory image when it became available). I don't have many apps beyond the system ones, but I noticed Chrome and Chrome Beta have updated a lot recently so I rolled back the updates to see if this is the cause

So far it seems to be caused by Chrome Beta. I uninstalled it and the problem has not returned, after a day.

Has she installed any custom widget apps? I'm asking because I know that there is a known issue with the HD Widgets app which causes this type of behavior. After any update for this app are installed, devices suddenly reboot without warning if they're running 4.0 (ICS) or later versions of Android.

Please note this occurs if a custom widget is added to a lock screen.
