The fact that Google posted a message stating the Nexus 4 is not sold out, kind of gives me some hope that they have a lot of the device in stock and that I could be able to order it in a couple hour from now. If not, oh wells, maybe third time's a charm.

I don't think they are going to run out of it anytime soon. They may not know how to handle server loads for store purchases, but they do know math. They know what the demand is. I predict the shipping will take a while, but they will continue to have phones in stock. I think the stock for those who are buying extra hoping to sell for a profit just dropped a bit.

I got mine, tried the holding down ENTER key trick. Came back to my browser to see the popup window up there, and was able to get a 16GB. This was at 5:04

They're likely not in stock. Instead, they probably have received notification from the manufacturer that they will have X number of units available to ship in 5 weeks, and have made that number available for what is essentially pre-order. That's fine, of course, and is what Apple does. It's just too bad that Google Play servers can't handle the load.

This. They are selling off the order sheet at this point if it takes 5 weeks to ship

Yeah, that technique is what finally worked for me as well. Used Firefox, as IE and Chrome didn't seem to work so well with that technique.

Wow, that took a while. There are two hours of my life I wont get back, but now I have a N4 on the way to show for it. This phone had better have a frickin lazer beam attached to it for all the bother we have all just gone through!

No email confirmation, but my credit card was charged immediately and I grabbed a screen capture of my order number. Now I have 1 hour left to do about 20 things!

Edit - Email confirmation came about 10 minutes after the order.

just got my order confirmation for my friend and i. 2 x 16GB. tried manually for about an hour then tabbed over, weighed the enter key down with a bottle of ink. used chrome. of course it was *right* as i was about to switch browsers for the hell of it. boom!
