Not going to be on VZW >_<

I have to say that I am a bit disappointed that the Nexus 5 is larger, as leaks initially pointed to a device a bit smaller than the Nexus 4. However, thanks to Swiftkey Beta, I will be able to live with it comfortably. The movable keyboard makes it actually possible to type one handed.

So its thinner and lighter than the N4? The same weight as the S4? Damn you guys are hard core. Seems to me people are trying to down the phone for personal reasons. Probably cause they cant get one..

There's a few scant millimeters difference in height and thickness between the N5 and the S4. I fail to see how that makes it significantly bigger. In fact, I'd say if you have held a S4 then you've probably got a good idea on how big the N5 will feel in your hand(s) given these dimensions.

You either hence small hands or are used to using an iPhone, hence why you think it's so big

Its really only a few mm taller than the phone I'm coming from (Epic 4g Touch) but its narrower and skinnier so help compensate. That said, when I have played with the S4 I thought it was way to large and had a hard time using it one handed (Though that might have been because the case on it was huge).

Size looks fine to me. I had no issues handling an S4. The extra micrometers or millimeters or whatever it is won't even be noticeable unless you get out a ruler.

Yeah basically the phone is huge. What a shame. Disappointed that Google didn't force some of Moto X's design cues on LG. Seriously how are you supposed to use such big phones in one hand or does that use case not matter anymore to Android OEMs?

how is the phone huge? its just over 1mm taller than the S4? its thinner and lighter than the Nexus 4

All the people complaining about the size need to either grow bigger hands or get used to it because phones are just going to keep getting bigger. 2 years ago the Note 1 was considered a huge phone at 5.3 inches, now 5 inch phones are the most common size for flagship phones.

When the S4 is already pushing the limits of what can fit in a hand and be used comfortably, then of course something even a few millimeters larger than the already too big S4 is definitely noticeable.

If we go by your line of thinking, a 4 mm increase every year shouldn't make a difference. Well, in that case, I think you will be fine with a phone that is 4 cm larger than the S4 10 years from now....because your hand magically would have grown too right? Come on...now. You can just say a "few scant mm bigger" in isolation. You've got to consider where it is starting from.

I agree, you'll notice a difference but in my opinion, it doesn't seem like it would be significant enough to impact comfortable use. Since I've used the S4 before and was fine with it, I wouldn't have a problem with a millimeter difference.

My line of thinking for this particular comparison does not denote a trend. Furthermore, it's a bit ridiculous to presume what my opinion would be in the future on what I would consider to be desirable phone size.

If the topic of discussion were about the history of smartphones and their size, then I would agree with you. However, this is about comparisons with current comparable devices on the market.
