Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

I really like it. AT&T sold it to me for $400. Great screen, fast performance, super super easy root, removable battery, SD card capable that doesn't eat SD cards (*cough* Samsung *cough*).

G Pad 8.3

Lol so they really changed from the G Pro to the G2...

I ended up selling my Nexus 5. The show stopper was battery life. No matter what I did and what I tweaked, it just wasn't good enough, to the point where I would work a 9 hour shift and be at the low battery warning. (And that's with not a lot of usage) Just couldn't deal with having to charge the phone that often.

You thought the Nexus 5 had bad battery life? Try using my HTC Amaze, 1 hour of screen time and that's if the Snapdragon S3 doesn't overheat!

My EVO 3D had an S3 but it wasn't that bad. There's a reason they underclocked it though, and it was a good move.

For this, looks like the combination of screen plus CPU and small battery really wasn't a good match

The only thing that I feel like is lacking is the speaker volume. Other than that, it's the best phone I've ever had.

2 days with N5.. coming from IP4.
Comparing ios7 with kit Kat.. I see some glaring omissions in KitKat like lack of screen orientation lock and global volume control

I agree with this observation. After so many revisions of Android, I don't understand why Google can't get this right?

There is no way in hell I'm switching to iOS but come on... we're on Android version 4.4. Why are these things not yet addressed without the need to install an app or tweak?

After a few days with the N5, I can say that it is a good bang for the buck. It's by no means perfect with some omissions and annoyances here and there (audio is horrible and camera could be better) but, for the price point, can't really complain. What is much more obvious is that KitKat is not as refined as I thought it would be. Yes, it's faster and it appears to run smoother, but it is far from perfect. The good thing is that the problems will be fixed with different ROMs but come on Google, get it together already. Some of the minor annoyances could have been addressed by having non-techie users test the phone. Sure, the N5 was geared towards techies but KitKat is not. Overall great job with the N5 and would love to see more focus on quality/consistency in future releases.

Its the best android phone IMO. It is what android should be. Not bogged down with bloatware and uselesness. Its like the iPhone of Androids which is perfect. Although I am kind of missing an iPhone, Android is less boring. I like the form-factor. I dont think its big at all, Im also rocking it naked and coming from the Note 3 that I grew accustomed to

The best thing about Android is that some (although not all) oems can take it to interesting levels with really excellent features not found on stock. Or tweaks to the UI that are actually nicer than stock. Or core apps that work better than Google versions ie. The music player. The possibilities are great.

But you have to learn to take the good with the bad. Some (but again not all) oems fail to optimize the os well, or put useless features in, or make a mess of the UI. As long as we have oems that ARE doing it right, and some certainly are, then you have choices out there. You don't HAVE to buy an oems android. You don't HAVE to buy a nexus. You have choices and neither is superior to the other. Choice is good.

The Nexus 5 is the best phone on the market for less than $500 retail price. No Contracts is freedom.

I don't know if I'd say the Nexus 5 is better than say an iPhone 5s.
However, it only costs like half what the iPhone goes for.
I've owned 4 iPhones over the last 4 years and to be honest I'm getting tired of spending so much on a phone (I know, I know, I don't have to get the new model each year).
The Nexus 5 is good value for the money in my opinion. A lesser camera than the 5s (though pretty decent) but offering a 5 inch screen and a pretty customizable OS for people like me who like to tinker and are getting tired of the "wall of icons" iOS has to offer.

What on the Nexus 5 is lacking in your opinion? All the samples I have seen are as good as the iPhone. Macro shots are better IMO.

To be honest I haven't taken too many pics with my Nexus 5 yet, so perhaps I'm being hasty in saying "lesser" just yet.
I've found so far that the pictures are quite sharp and the colour looks good, but, it seems a tad slow focusing IMO.
Not really slow, but it occasionally comes into play when you say take a pic of something moving. A scenery shot is fine. I recommend using the HDR+ setting; the pictures come out quite nice.
Another reason I might have thought "lesser" could be because I'm so used to the iPhones' camera interface.
Obviously this is not a true weakness with the Nexus; it's just a different interface that I'll just have to get used to.
Again though, I have to say the Nexus 5 is very good value for the money and I'm very happy with it.

The battery and screen are good. Its just the processor which is over clocked to 1.5 GHz which is bad. Also, the lack of project butter means lag fest

It is very slow. The UI is also not very feature rich. But the quality is as good as anything else I have seen so far.

I took photos of my son sleeping with both my Nexus 5 and this G2 and definitely preferred the quality on the G2.

I had a few "slow to focus" issues tonight. I honestly think though a majority of these issues will be fixed with a camera software update.

The slowness is very apparent when compared side-by-side to another phone such as the HTC One where you can fire off multiple almost-instantaneous shots. For someone like me, who went from an aging XT860, it is quite an improvement. There is definitely room for improvement with a software update then again I didn't buy this phone for the camera but it'd be a nice fix.
