Nexus 5 is better than the iPhone.

I'm not sure if lg does. I found this

A Look Inside An LG Smartphone Factory

Which indicates they have at least one factory in South Korea making smart phones but they don't say where the other four factories are. And yes, I'm sorry, but I feel better if I know what I buy isn't manufactured by people so miserable and oppressed the workplace has a suicide problem.

I use Nexi products. Apples trying to improve conditions but they are the only one that comes under fire, what about Samsung or HTC? I fully bet they use Foxconn.

Yes, or places like that. In my subsequent post I found something about a workers strike at an lg factory in China (don't know the year), so lg also has poor factory conditions in China. (I have 2 phones manufactured by lg.) :(

It's very possible that companies use China for low costs and experience.... and that costs are low because conditions suck. Other than going to another factory, which may risk an inferior or delayed rollout, they may not have much control over Chinese regulations and enforcement.

Yes, that's obvious, but I was hoping there might be one who doesn't. Maybe moto x from now on. :(

And I certainly don't mean to be rude, just a little (or a lot) disheartened by the conditions in those factories.

Robots that are as cheap as Chinese labor allowed Remington to closes all their factories in China that now mades electric razors in the USA. 3D printers and robots will do even more to bring factories back to the USA.

It's not an issue to me and I actually own one. I have to go at least 45 degrees before I see a difference. It's just one of those non issues reviewers mention so they have something to nitpick

I hope so.

Re: Nexus 5 is better then Iphone

Where did you read reviews that the screen is one of the best available? I'm genuinely interested. Every review I have read an watched say the screen is crisp and clear, but appears washed out.

As a photographer, I can tell you the screen appears to be extremely accurate for colour.

The main problem for comparison is that a lot of the other manufacturers, esp Samsung, have over saturated the image display, which lots of people find more pleasing to the eye, part of which is that (in my opinion) it does a bit to hide shortcomings in fine tonal gradation, which the current 12/14 bit sensors aren't particularly good at capturing .

A lot of people are now used to the oversaturation, and think it's normal.

I guess all personal preference is acceptable, since for many, the primary display method for photos is on a screen, rather than by printing on real paper.

I'm still torn after almost a week with my n5 if I want to go back to iPhone or not. The n5 camera really disappoints compared to my 5s. It takes forever to focus and still misses focus. With a little one time is of the essence! The iPhone camera is just so much more reliable. Besides that I like the n5 much more.

Try using other camera apps

There'll be a fix coming shortly for the camera, from one of two sources. Probably worth hanging on.

With small kids, anything but a DSLR is really difficult.

Not quite. Phones like the G2 and iPhone are significantly faster. There are other phones out there, along with those two, that would do just fine with small kids.

The issue isn't the camera, its the software. Nexus camera software has never been great to begin with, and in this case its holding back the performance of an above average sensor.

Are the viewing angles that horrible or is it just slightly worse than other phones?

If the Z1 is anything like the Z, the viewing angles will be similar to the nexus 5. Not the best, but above average.

Yep. My iPhone was significantly better at capturing my little one. I really hope a software fix makes it much better. I love everything else about the phone.
