I currently have both but will probably stick with the Nexus 5. I love the Note 3, but no matter how hard I try I just can't force myself to like touchwiz. It is a great device and if I personally had more use for the s-pen I'd probably stick with it but I just feel the Nexus 5 is a much more fluid, fun to use device. I do find the camera to be a bit better on the Note 3. The occasional lag and performance hiccups are still present on the Note 3 even with the S800 and 3 gb of RAM. The software is just nowhere near as optimized as that of the Nexus 5. That said, the Note 3 really is a great device and you couldn't go wrong with either one.

This is going to come down to personal preference. I wouldn't do it. For me, the Note 3 is a bit too big for my liking as a daily device and I'm at a point of wanting to try a pure Google device. Even though the N3 can be rid of Touchwiz, it's just not the same as being stock and getting updates straight from the source: Google.

Walk into a carrier store and see if the Note 3 fits your needs.

If you are sure the phone is legit and won't be blacklisted then definitely make the trade.

HELL NO.

Trading pure Android with quick updates for TouchWiz would be a mistake to me. Just... gross. I would never even really consider buying and using the Note.

Why not? If you don't mind large phone, note 3 gives you 150% (minimum) battery life, and removable battery to help the resale values down the road. It also have beautiful, vivid screen, massive storage and micro sd slot to expand.

Now 3 also build a barrier between your privacy and Google ' s all encompassing data collection machine. It also provide you convenient functions all at the same time.

Honestly, these two are not in the same league, anybody can have a preference, but to pretend they are equals would be. ........ Not honest. :)

Thanks guys for the quick replies its such a tough decision but the future upgrade ability is undeniable. I am at work so still thinking it over. Keep Chimming in folks.

I just got the Nexus 5 and am still learning KitKat, which so far, I am not liking. At this early stage in the game, I prefer the Note 3 (I also own this) to the Nexus 5. So far, the Nexus 5 is teaching me that I want to stay on Jellybean.

Keep in mind that I've only had a few minutes to use my Nexus 5, as it came today while I'm at work and I haven't had time to get into it. I already had to watch Phil's video to figure out how to add a homescreen, and I've been using Android for over three years now.

Keep the nexus 5 for a few months, at that point the note 3 will have lower resale value anyway.

Note 3 <Caesars>

Depends what you want to do with it - if you'd like to draw/create on the go, the Note 3 is the better phone, and it also has a better camera IMO (from an N5 owner). Both phones have the same processor though but the bloat may slow the Note 3 down a bit - it's still a very, very fast phone though.

To be honest, I'd just keep the N5 - it's THE most up-to-date phone at the minute, and will be until it's obsolete in terms of software updates, plus Samsung have said the S4/Note 3 might not get KitKat until next year.

Like I said earlier if you trust Note 3 source (ie the phone won't be blacklisted) then just trade. Don't know why there is even a discussion.
If both phones cost $650 guess which one the majority of us would choose. You are basically given the same deal here.

I just traded my Note 3 away for the new Nexus 5 even though I swore I wouldn't do it and I said in thread after thread that anyone who did it would regret it. But I don't regret it. The Nexus 5 is smooth. Very smooth. And looks and feels good. No complaints.

Very Glad to hear that. I was starting to lean towards the Note 3 somewhat but glad to hear that you have no regrets.

I currently have both phones and am really torn. I actually like the size of the Note and use the s pen and action memo, scrapbook, etc. I do like the speed and fluidness of the N5. I am leaning towards the Note, butI have decided to strictly use the N5 for the rest of the week. I can't forget to mention the awesome battery life that I get from the Note....

Just keep both if you can swing it.

I am 6'4" and I find the Note 3 to be ridiculously oversized. I'm coming from a GS4 Google Edition, which I'll be passing down to my wife as soon as the case for my Nexus 5 arrives. Don't get me wrong, the Note 3 is an excellent device, loaded with top-notch specs. However, it's definitely not for everyone. To me, the GS4's/N5's 5-inch displays are the absolute limits when it comes to screen size. Moreover, I prefer stock Android and the speedy updates that come with it to any manufacturer overlay, particularly Sense (HTC) and TouchWiz (Samsung).

Another big point of contention is the display technology used by various manufacturers. It's largely a matter of preference, but Samsung's SAMOLED displays are vastly superior to all other displays I've seen, including the N5's. If my wife didn't need a new phone (her S3 is beginning to show signs of age), I would have held on to my GS4GE. With that being said, if I had the TouchWiz variant of the GS4, I definitely would have gotten rid of it.

Even trade? It doesn't sound right when the Note 3 is selling for $600, $700.

Unless of course it's been dropped/damage in some way or worst stolen.

Keep the nexus 5.
