"Yet another thread on Bluish-Red-White-Blue Nexus 5 Notification light.." I know and I sincerely apologize for that.

So, to clarify I am talking about the light that blinks at the bottom of the phone (what should I be writing ? Often? frequently? in red? in blue? in white? .. )

I came across many posts, but not one has an answer to my curiosity/anxiety. I have a new Nexus 5 and until somedays after the purchase I saw only the white notification light. But in recent times I see Bluish white, Blue and Red ones as well.

Note:. I Do not have any third-party apps (lightflow or something) installed.

1. When is it White? When is it Blue? When is it Red? Any experienced users out there, please?
2. What is the frequency of this flash notification light? (How often does it blink)
3. Any significance attached to device status ? (Some posts said look at the battery level etc. To Clarify my battery was charged well and I dont see a point in that. But I am curious if anything related to hardware)

Thanks a ton in advance

Personally, I've never seen mine blink red. However, for me it seems when I get an sms or mms then the light will blink blue, and white when I get any sort of email/Gmail. As for frequency, I've not paid enough attention to have an exact time, but it's not very quick between flashes. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

My flashes have always been a blueish white. I've not had another color.

Maybe installing Light Flow Lite will fix it, since you can then set the color you want depending on the type of notification you get. Works great for me.

I think it can also depend on the app as well.

Nexus 5 4.4.2 (rooted)

I have noticed that Beautiful Widgets flashes a red notification whenever there is a severe weather alert...

I know the Textra app lets you set different notification lights for the app or by contact. I have green (default), blue, red and orange/yellow lights depending on the contact. The ESPN Sportcenter app give a red light for final score alerts, Gmail gives white light alerts. Those are the ones I have noticed.

Sorry to revive a dead thread. My notification light has only flashed once (just after I restarted my phone and received an SMS) it has never flashed other than that one time. Running 4.4.4 and flash notification is checked in settings.

I'll second LightFlow. I have no idea how it works stock and didn't bother figuring it out, LightFlow makes it work the way you want it to.

Actually, the issue seems to have resolved itself. I did take a look at Light Flow, but as it's working fine now, I'm ok with simple. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

From what I can tell the light color is related to the programs generating the notifications. It has the ability to make any color it wants. The applications can pick the color they want as well.
