Nexus 5 only boots into safe mode

When I power on my N5 it goes into fastboot with Start / Power Off / Restart bootloader / Recovery Mode flashing on top. The volume controls won't toggle to any of the options they just constantly cycle. When I get it to start it always boots into safe mode.

That's odd. Are you able to see the device through ADB on the computer? If so, perhaps you can register the commands to boot into fastboot.

I figured it out. The volume down button is stuck on. That explains booting into fastboot and also the options in fastboot cycling constantly. Thanks for the reply.
