I'm thinking of going back to android for my phone, and I have a choice to make since I'll have to buy off contract. I think the choices are pretty much down to the 32gb nexus 5 or the 32gb moto x Dev edition.

Why do you want the Moto X Developer's Edition? If updates are a concern, then know that if you're getting one that is carrier branded, updates will still be coming from the carrier.

I'd go for the Moto X, personally.

You should look hard at the moto X, especially if you drive allot. It is amazing. You could also go Maxx is you are on verizon and really want the battery life.
I would not trade my moto X for any of them. It gives you the same feeling as the first time you went from blackberry to android.
Google now + hands free + active notifications + always listening = game changer.
Its hard to understand it until you own it and use it for a day or two. Then there is no going back nor interest in a phone that cannot do the same functions.
