Nexus 5: Problems & Issues

Bear in mind, that most people don't go on this forum and say 'Nothing is bad with my device. Just wanted to say so.' This is the equivalent of an automotive shop.
Now, to make a point earlier discussed, Moto has good build quality. I agree. The buttons shift a little in my Moto X. It never bothered me, as I look at it as there should be some play in that configuration. Does that mean I have a piece of junk? Not to me.

I said Motorola has excellent build quality! There isn't an issue with the moto x in the slightest. I personally love that phone.

Seriously, though, there's no need to start throwing insults at peoples. Your friend at AT&T is a good source, but was he talking about nationwide statistics, or just at his store?

Your iPhone 5s is also built in China.:p

Designed in California BY PROFESSIONALS, assembled in China under strict quality control and regulations. The nexus 5 however is designed in South Korea by an average company which was told to make it on a cheap budget. The phone itself is manufactured in China. However, it's manufactured under loose guidelines and quality control due to the price of the product and its market. It's meant to be a budget phone for a vast amount of markets.

He was talking about the store but he also mentioned other stores having the same issue

The Nexus 5 was made in Korea, according to my device. If people were going into the AT&T store for help, I think that has a lot more to do with not knowing how to activate a device oneself and nothing to do with build problems.

I should also mention that even though most people pay $350 to Google for the phone, the actual phone costs google $450 to make. They lose money for every nexus 5 sold. This is where business comes into play. They're not making money so they're not going to really care. They're basically recruiting you for ads and app purchases. They're going to build a somewhat decent product to do that but they're not going to put a lot of time into it. They're going to make it adequate and that's exactly what they've done. The Nexus 5 is just okay and nothing more.

Well ok. You can certainly have your opinion. I would still prefer to see actual data before making generalizations about a device or a company. You may be right, and if there was hard data out there, I'd totally agree. But until then, I'd rather not make assumptions.

And this user thinks the Nexus 5 is terrific.

Fair enough. I don't really pay attention to where it's made and I don't really care.

The devices were activated fine apparently. They just wouldn't hold a signal to the tower. When that happens, you go to the carrier for help. It makes perfect sense. It's funny though because for the first time it's actually not the carrier that's the issue

Hard data doesn't exist publicly. I've already mentioned that it doesn't exist. I'm going off of information I've been given and found myself. These aren't assumptions but actual facts. When you think logically about everything I've said you'll be able to see that it makes sense. Until then, this will just be pointless arguing.

If there is no hard data that exists publicly, then the actual facts that you're citing are anecdotes, not data. I am thinking logically here. And you're right, this is pretty pointless.;)

Everything I've explained to you is coming from somebody who works in the technology industry. I've pieced together everything for you and you're still denying everything. It really isn't that hard to see. I understand you own the device. I get it. You want to defend your purchase as much as possible. However, realize when you've mad a bad decision. Well, it could be a good decision. You obviously like the phone. But looking at everything added together it isn't the best decision to buy a nexus 5

OK. So let's all stop arguing then.

It drives traffic to the thread. Why bother to stop? It's interesting to see opinions. It's not like we're doing anything against the rules

Ok, thanks. Your opinion is in a very small minority of tech writers and experts, but is still an important one.

Huh? That sounds like more unsubstantiated nonsense. I put an Aio sim in my Nexus 5 and get the AT&T signal perfect.

But we've been through all of this before, a few months ago in this thread. That time, also, the things you stated were proven false. I'm sorry if you had a poor experience with the Nexus 5, but obviously it is unusual compared to the majority having good experiences with it, and as shown by posts months ago, better than your objective battery experience with your iPhone.

Need I mention the XDA problems thread which will back up all of the issues I've listed? How about the sources I've listed such as my friend David who works at AT&T? I'm not here to troll this thread as I'm sure most of you are thinking. It's an issue that you're brushing off just because of this little attachment at the bottom

You're right — you're not. The Ambassadors want to see engaging, interesting, and productive debate, just not at the cost of things getting heated up. That's all. :) If things go too far, the the mods will step in. :p

My 2? on the topic: I've had the network issues with one Nexus 5, and not another. Both came in great shape, and have held up fairly well. I have no trouble believing the device has been a total pain for some, and a complete pleasure for others.

The only issues I have with my Nexus can be attributed to my carrier.

Name one device that doesn't have dozens and dozens of problem threads on dozens of sites. Name one device that is perfect for every person. Name one company with a perfect production system. With that in mind, LG has won first place (tied with Apple) in reliability in the mobile space. My parents excellent TV is LG, their fridge is LG and my phone is LG. Guess what? Each works flawlessly and is top of their own respective class.

Please take a stats class at your local college. One, or even two or three (heck I'll give you thirty people you've talked to), people's experiences do not make a large enough sample for a company as large as LG to justify the hate and false generalizations you spew out every post.
