Nexus 5 vs 5x which is the better deal for me

The 5X isn't just newer, its two full years newer. The 5 is now a full year passed its OS support window and its a dead phone walking as far as security updates are concerned (it got Dec 2016, but no word on if more are to come).

Well if you just want a phone to make calls, send text, check email. Then the nexus 5 is still a good choice. Still fast and if you rom, can still run the latest builds. But as others point out the 5x is a much newer phone and will still get official updates for quite a while. Also the camera is heads and shoulders above the nexus 5.
