Nexus 5: Wireless charger - why would I bother?

Re: Wireless charger- why would I bother?

I use the Google Wireless Charger with my Nexus 7 and Nexus 7 2013, I personally find it is more convenient using a wireless charger, simply put the device on, magnetically attaches and away you go.

I also find it makes my desk look ore tidy and no more routing around to find the end of the cable because it's fallen down the back of my desk etc.

I know they are expensive devices (I have 2) but once you live with it, they become part of the overall Nexus experience.

I am still using my HP TouchPad. Early on I bought the stand that supports wireless charging. Usually it is beside my computer system. Always on, always fully charged, usually monitoring Gmail, sometimes a forum on Tapatalk. I would not want to be without it.
My contact isn't up yet, but if Note 3 supports wireless charging, that will be my next device.

There are a few good ones in the market. I have the Zens Qi charging pad and its great. No issues with it and the price was right.

What is everyone else using? I see GranPaSmurf using the HP TouchPad.

Well this sceptical O.P. thanks you all for your robust responses, I now understand the appeal better and may consider getting one.

Thanks!

How well does this work (or does it work) with a case on your phone? I have a really thin case but if I had to remove it every time, I think that might be a bit too much of a hassle.

Works fine for me. I have a case made of TPU and faux leather on the back that is not that slim, and it has no issue.

I am using a couple of Nokia units, the DT-900 and DT-910. They work fine with my phone, Droid DNA, and tablet, Nexus 7. They also work with the Nexus 5. The DT-900 is a real bargain since AT&T sells them for around $25.

I charge my devices without removing the cases.

The DT-910 is angled so the device nearly vertical. When Android detect wireless charging in this position it displays the clock screen. I have the DT-910 next to my bed and it makes my Nexus 7 a very cool alarm clock. Also, I never have to worry about the device not being charged

The DT-900 is kept next to the tray where I drop my keys and wallet. I drop my phone on the charger and when I head out the door I grab my keys, wallet, and fully charged phone.

One thing is that it saves a possible USB port break. Had it happen on my Evo 4G back in the day and had to get it repaired...

its easier at night , in bed at 3 am when I get a work afterhours call to just pick up the phone and talk rather than fumble with a cable in the dark...

I have a Diztronic skin-like case, and the Powerbot works fine through it. My Mom has a thicker wallet like case and the Powerbot works through that too.

The convenience of these things is what wireless charging is about...and at $20 easily affordable. Amazon.com: Lerway Wireless Qi Power Charger Pad for Lumia920 HTC 8X S4 S3 Note II (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories and I have also had a USB port break on my GN so they are a weak link... tho only $8 to fix.
I have one of these on the bed stand and a dual energizer in the kitchen (N4 and my N5) I rue the day when they move on to the next thing. Right now tho they are the cat's meow! I don't know how I will put up with a phone that doesn't have it.
