Question: I'm using an original HTC One M7...how big of an upgrade would it be if I moved to the Nexus 5X? Is it worth it at this price?

Well I think the M7 is almost 3 yrs old now. With the 5X you would be getting a bigger screen, better processor, better battery life probably, fingerprint sensor, probably better camera ( I am not sure just guessing on the camera) and of course the latest and greatest Android OS 6.0 so I guess if you want all those things it probably is worth it. If it was me, I would then sell the M7 and then my cost of that new device is reduced even less. Just a thought.

Even though I'm using a 6s+ it's hard to not want to pick one up for 299 just to have some stock Android to mess around with and as a backup/secondary device.

That's not a bad idea, although I've never sold a phone before. My fear is someone getting some personal information from my phone after I let it go. Probably silly but, still...never done it before so I'm pretty cautious.

A factory reset should clear it all off.
