Nexus 5x on Verizon.

Nexus 5x on Verizon. Every time I reboot phone it drops LTE though I can still make calls. I have to turn on/off Airplane Mode for it to pick LTE back up. Any ideas?

Most phones do not establish an LTE link unless there is a call for mobile data. And, frankly, there is no reason to do so in the absence of a data request.

Also, by default, Android will not establish an LTE connection if there is a current functioning Wi-Fi connection.

Thanks for your response. I should be more clear. When the phone reboots I can't access cellular data (what I called LTE) without manually clicking on and off "airplane mode". The wifi connects fine, I can even make calls, however I lose cellular data until I click the aiplane mode. I tried a factory reset, and it actually connected to 4G until it loaded all my apps back in and now it's doing it again.

You might try:

  1. Enable Developer options if not done already - Settings -> About Phone -> tap Build Number entry repeatedly until "You are now a developer" banner pops up
  2. Settings - Developer Options -> Cellular data always active -> On

are you in area with bad LTE reception?

Thanks for the tip. I had a similar problem where the phone would not connect to data service. Finally I did a factory reset and data started working again. I'm in the burbs of Philly where service is very good, so it should not have been a reception issue.
