There's definitely these types of posts/threads for any and every Android phone on forums I've ever been in. Some of it may have to do with what apps people have downloaded, what processes are running in the background, etc. I have none of the issues you mentioned for the record (only had this phone for like 2 weeks) but it's been buttery smooth and actually faster than my old Moto x pure editionThe lag is definitely real, there is a 9 page post just above this one currently with people detailing their issues. I have been an avid android user since I purchased my Nexus One in 2010 and out of all the phones I have had this is the only one to lag like it does. Does it always lag? Nope. Does it lag more then it doesn't? Yup. 10 seconds for the camera to start, keyboard lagging multiple words behind, phone comes to a stuttering halt when changing between apps, it's all there. I am envious of anyone who got one that doesn't lag, but I think its a good warning to the OP so that he doesn't get frustrated after he switches. Buyer beware.
The lag is definitely real for some users
There, I fixed that for you (says the user with no lag who is sick of people acting like lag is par for the course for this phone).
Fair enough, but, from what I've read: Your experience is more the exception than the rule. There, I fixed that for you (says the user with no lag who is sick of people acting like lag is par for the course for this phone).
Nexus 5X, three months on | Android Central
Android Centrals own staff review, every single on of them had issues with the performance and lag on the 5x.

The largest thread in this forum is about the lag issues regarding this phone
Google 5x lag issues and you will come up with countless occurrences. The lag is definitely real for the majority of users.
Once again this is simply a buyer beware. If you are coming from a relatively lag free phone then there is a good chance this phone will frustrate you. I love everything about my 5x (size, camera, build quality) except performance, it just isn't up to par with other phones released at the same time.
Hmmm... I wonder if it did?The article you linked was prior to the march update which supposedly fixed many of the issues users were having ...
I can live with a little lag for a fraction of price of some of the other flagship phones out there.
A "little lag" (for some definition of "a little") is one thing, but some owners have noted lags of up to ten (10) seconds--particularly for the camera app.
Still waiting to hear from people who experienced unusual lag as to whether the March update appears to have permanently addressed this issue for them.
You might want to take a look at this thread. I didn't bother going through it again. Certainly, when the update came out, feedback was mostly positive. Whether their phones subsequently slowed again I don't know...

Thanks for the pointer.
Pretty much what I'd read elsewhere. And, just as with those other places I'd read it: Thread peters-out with no definitive answer to the question: Is the performance improvement people saw a result of a cache clear & reboot, or did Google actually fix the problems? Were the people that continued to suffer poor performance and battery life getting less-than-stellar results because they failed to do a cache clear or FR? Or some combination of apps? Or is it, as some suggest, buying a Nexus 5X is like rolling dice?
Good point. Very good point, in fact.If you use the example of the people complaining of camera lag, most of them would have already had multiple monthly updates where they still saw lag following the update. So this update was clearly different in that regard.
