nexus 5x zagg screen protector can't install

I bought a Zagg original screen protector and when I opened the box, what came out couldn't be installed. It was 2" wider than my phone for one thing. There was a grey pattern on the sticky plastic film in the shape of the phone including microphone and speaker but it was just one big solid sheet of sticky plastic. I peeled off the translucent white sheet on one side but there was no front side to peel off. The ovals for speaker and microphone were patterned as faint gray but there were no actual holes. The only way to install the thing would have been to cut out the pattern with scissors before applying.
I did a chat session with Zagg support and they are going to send another one but I am wondering if there was a screw up at the manufacturer and all of them are like this. Anyone else have this issue?

Finally, after 3 weeks Zagg sent a non-defective screen protector. The one I received initially somehow missed the cutting step where the phone shape was cut out. Who knows how many of these they shipped without the cutout!
