Re: Nexus 6 is up on Play Store, price confirmed $649
That $30 T-Mo plan is probably what I'll go with if I get the N6 -- replacing my voip home line but keeping AT&T for my N5 (I like the $40 GoPhone plan even though it's only 0.5 Gb of data -- I use email a lot but don't go through much bandwidth.)
Wi-Fi calling on T-Mo is another plus -- if that comes to pass. That will make it easy to replace my voip line and still get good call reception in the house.
T-Mo has been improving a lot here in the metro Atlanta. In some outlying areas I think (but haven't verified) it may be better that either of the big two. BTW, I'm so glad to have been able to ditch Verizon about a year ago.
The carriers would need to do more in the way of plans to make it worth our wild to pay cash money for our devices.... Only reason I use T-Mobile is because I get unlimited data (5 gig at LTE speeds) unlimited text and 100 minutes talk (I only average 60 - 80 minutes of actual talk time per month) for $30.00 a month...
The plans on AT&T and even Sprint with an unlocked or paid in full up front device are not cheap enough... Almost makes sense to just sign another contract and go two years....
Maybe Google just decided they couldn't win that battle vs the carriers???? Outside of Google taking a large chunk of the reported $60 billion in cash on hand to buy a carrier and run it their way (which I am sure Google has no desire to run a carrier) they are not going to be able to break that mold any... T-Mobile is doing a good job of shaking up the industry but their between major metro cities coverage is horrendous... and they can't have many more tricks left up those sleeves.... The GIANTS... AT&T and Verizon have the networks and have plenty of profits to offer better cheaper plans if you pay for your phone outright but they are not going to do it at the risk of lower profits... T-Mobile isn't doing it to be nice... They are trying to stay relevant and make money long term......
