Nexus 6: Complaints, bugs & gremlins thread.

Most complaints seem to be about lollipop rather than the phone itself. Besides the asinine volume fiasco, I hate not being able to customize the lock screen. I want my OWN widgets on there.

Yeah, exactly. It's a consistency issue for me. Ironically, I had a notification pop up as expected after I posted this, but then another came a few minutes later and didn't (and the phone hadn't moved--it was on the TYLT the whole time). I'm thinking about perhaps trying out ACDisplay, at least until they work out whatever kinks there seem to be here.
Right now it does appear Ambient Display is calibrated for when the phone is lying flat. It never works if it's in the TYLT, and it never works if I'm holding the phone. The Moto X/Droid Maxx implementation is far more sensitive and knows to wake up when the phone has been moved.

Perhaps the Ambient Display and other Lollipop problems should have their own thread. I know there's a Lollipop 5.0 forum, but I like keeping problems specific to the N6 on this forum.

Here is hardware thing that is making me wonder if I damaged my 1 day old phone already. Has anyone noticed the little chip on the cameras plastic flash ring cover??? Was this thing by design? Has anyone else noticed it? It really bugging me now.

I have noticed that my phone's time always shows about a minute slower than everyone else's phone. No matter the carrier. I have the network time enabled but it still seems to be a minute behind. Anyone else notice this?

Found some other threads in specific device forums but no general Lollipop 5 forum.
Something we can make wish lists for when new roms start proliferating.

I noticed it too, I think it's by design. I thought it was a flaw at first until I really looked at it close.

What is the typical screen on time? I'm seeing some say 4 hours plus...mine isn't getting anywhere near that amount. I'm getting more like 2 hours MAX. I am connected to WiFi most of the day, ambient display on, gmail, minor surfing, 20 or so text messages, 10 mins of gaming maybe. Also, "Google Play Services" seems to be the biggest battery percentage each day so far.

Shouldn't the screen always populate the top spot?

Shouldn't I be getting A LOT more usage out of the battery?

I'm having an issue when I reboot. It's been every time today.

Basically, some app or apps must not have installed correctly because I get the white box saying "Android is updating, optimizing app 1 of 1".

It has happened three or four times, the most recent time there were 3 apps instead of one. The thing is, no apps have updated or otherwise been changed between reboots.

It takes forever and is a pita.

I'm not unfamiliar with this, it happened one time last week on Nexus 4, seemingly when an app update failed.

Yea I was having the same problem with my moto x 2014 after the Lollipop update.
I just did a factory restore to the phone and that fixed it.
You should do the same for your Nexus 6 before you put too much time into setting it up!:-$

My only complaint ( though I knew this going into it) is that I really miss the pulse of my moto x ambient display
I am not sure if I'm doing it wrong or not but my phone is almost always face up, when I pick up the phone I have to press the power button to see the notifications
I really hope they can update that to be better or similar to how it works on moto x

Yeah mine has been pretty unreliable for some reason. At times its super sensitive, or not working well at all. Hopefully they can fine tune this. Might look into activating that led light as well

Yesterday I got 2 random reboots, and I noticed occasionally my ringtone doesn't sound right. A little static.

Woke up this morning and had to reenter my home Wi-Fi password... Wi-Fi was on as always but had an exclamation mark next to it.. went into setting and Wi-Fi clicked on my router and had to type it in again... weird...

My phone is laying flat. Not charging. Doesn't work consistently. Most of the time, I have to find the power button.
