nexus 6 Google now lockscreen not locking

If I have Google Now open and I press the power button my screen goes black as expected. Problem is that when I press the power button again it goes straight to google now versus having to swipe to unlock. I only have this issue with Google Now. All other apps require me to swipe to unlock. The power button is easily depressed with the case I use.

I just resolved my own issue. I use Nova Launcher Prime. When disabled it functions properly. Anyone else with Nova have this same issue?

I'm using nova prime on my GPE M8 running 5.0.1 and am not seeing that behavior.

Actually its not resolved!

Someone else please try this. Go to Google now and type something, for example I typed super bowl then search. I very the screen pictured below. Then I push the power button, screen goes black, then part button again and it bypasses the swipe lock and goes right back to the same search screen. Disabled Nova Launcher thinking I resolved it. Any thoughts?
