So I finally got an invite for oneplus one and it expires this afternoon. I'm on the fence. Also because I'm in Canada I'm gonna have to pay the crazy duty fees

Buy it and if you prefer the nexus 6 when it comes out then sell the one plus one. Given the exclusivity of the one plus one you should make your money back if you keep it in good condition. It's a hard question to give a definitive answer on given one of the devices doesn't officially exist yet.

Hmm still can't decide at the cost of the nexus 6 I'm not sure if I want it or the oneplus

Buy the Oneplus... I see them selling on Swappa and even my local craigslist for what you'll pay for it...

Step 1: Buy both devices
Step 2: Send me both devices
From here I will use both devices as daily drivers and determine which is the superior device
Step 3: Sell the device I tell you not to keep.
Step 4: For my troubles you will give me 10 percent of sold device

Is the OPO really that exclusive anymore?

Well the invite system is still in place. There was some talk about them getting rid of it but still hasn't happened yet.

Due to custom fee, the low price of the OnePlus isn't there anymore, and when you resell it you won't get that money back. It's not exclusive anymore, you can buy the devices for the same price as new now or even cheaper at Swappa. If you could afford it, I would go with the Nexus 6. This is from my experience using the Moto X and OnePlus, there are many benefits Motorola have over the OnePlus like better ergonomic design making it more comfortable to hold, no yellow screen, great signal and call quality. You'll probably have more luck dealing with Google for RMA compared to OnePlus as well.

OPO is still a very good phone though. I think it's good enough to be $450 from what it offered.

You're quite the businessmen.

They will need to be up around $400 - 450 each if they want to not just make money but have enough money to maintain a support staff and R&D department that is worth a dang.....

Tough choice, if you have the money, get the nexus, otherwise just go with the plus one.

I'm from canada and honestly the import and shipping fees really turn me off google charges like 20 bucks for shipping to Canada and no duty fees

OPO is about to be a lot less exclusive...

The only problem is their momentum is probably gone.... Because of the price they will probably still sell plenty of devices, just not as many as they would have months ago...

The invite system I was okay with... Just not all the games they ran to "Win" one... They couldn't do preorders at that price back in May or June... Would have crushed them and everyone would have been complaining how long it took to get a device... and then if there was a major flaw or issue with the phone a mass million plus phones being returned would have bankrupted them fast....

I personally have the money to pay $700 for the Nexus 6.... I would have bought a Oneplus in a heart beat back in June.... Now for the money I'll just wait a couple more weeks for the Nexus.... Even if Oneplus opened up preorders today with delivery in two weeks....

Had an OPO and sold it for the Moto X 2014. Returned the Moto X 2014 and got another invite this week to buy the OPO. I went to their forums to see how the 38R update was going and still seeing some issues. Also saw a few new production issues with yellow tint screen. My first OPO was perfect. I passed on ordering and then saw the specs on the Nexus 6 and am pretty impressed. Of course the price is more than double. If you can handle issues with CM and software issues yourself and need little support, get the OPO, it is one fast and smooth device with a few bugs. If you like timely service and support, google would be a better choice.

I had dismissed the Nexus 6, but once I actually saw the dimensions and compared them to my iPhone 6+, I am closely looking at the Nexus having had the S, 4 and currently have a 5.

YAY!! for one day and for only one hour..... and payments via Paypal... :p

OnePlus One pre-orders will be open for only one hour, so if you don't get in that window, the current invites method for getting the phone will still apply. The payments are processed via PayPal, and OnePlus is recommending that you get your information all up to date in advance to avoid any hiccups.

Isn't the oneplus one going to be available to everyone in a week. This hype for a midrange phone is amazing to me.

Yes and No.. they announced it would be available for preorder without an invite on October 27... for one hour only.... 11 am - 12 noon Eastern time.... After that you need an invite again...

Not really mid range.. Pretty top of the line spec sheet on it... Just one notch below the Note 4 and Nexus 6 but kind of on par with the LG G3..... for $300 - 350.... not to shabby...

I guess midrange was a bit of a stretch. I mean they really got the hype machine going for a phone that isn't top of the line. With how much the N6 is going for the OPO is a good deal.
