Nexus 6: Screenshots

Could someone please check to see if that white google bar can be deleted? Thanks

I'd like to know as well. If it can't I'll most likely stick with using Nova Launcher.

It can't be removed on the stock launcher, but you can use Nova launcher like you said. With that launcher you can still enable the ok Google hot word also.

I may try the stock launcher at first. It depends on how it looks with my widgets. With a screen this big it may not be so bad, but I have to see for myself.

What I don't like about the persistent Google search at the top is it looks weird to me, with my widgets and takes away from the look. It's like Google has installed their own form of bloatware that can't be removed, unless you use a different launcher.

I agree! I like my widget setup the way that it is now! For fun.... Here's my setup on my S4:

I'd like to be able to have something similar on the N6 when it arrives. As you can see, I currently have a countdown widget until my scheduled delivery date from Motorola :]

Significantly better battery life than iPhone 6 plus....

Don't want to hijack, but I have to comment on this. I tested a 6 Plus for 14 days and it easily had the best battery life I've ever gotten out of a smart phone. Ever.

24-30 hours on battery with 8+ usage hours between charges consistently.

Cant be removed. You'll need to use a different launcher like Nova if you don't want to have the "google bar".
Are you kidding me!!!! I can't believe that. Here you think google is all for customization, but they go and do this. They are no different than anyone else who adds bloat or things that cannot be removed. I am really shocked at this. I realize I can get another launcher, but does this mean that soon we will be complaining about google skins the way we do about TW? They should make that dang thing removable. I know I don't want it there. I really am going to look else where unless the reviews really change for the N6. Realistically, with all the negative things about this phone, why would I want to sink so much money into it? I currently have a lgg2 and I wanted to give it to my wife while I got the N6. I think I will wait to see what the Lgg4 and HTC M9 will bring. Since google is now going to put things there you can't remove, I might as well just get any other phone knowing I will need Nova. I really think google blew it really bad with this release.

If you use tap and go when you initially start your device and in the setup, your phone will look just like that when it is finished setting up. Mine looked just like my Nexus 5 did, wallpaper and widgets and all. It was really awesome how well it worked.

lol I'm sorry, but that Google Bar has been there since at least the Nexus 4. So that would make this the third release they've 'blown', I suppose.

And the difference between this and Touchwiz, in case you missed it, is an unlocked bootloader. That's a huge difference.

It's been that way since Jellybean I believe. It used to be a widget that you could just remove. I wouldn't get too worried about Google adding a skin or UI, it's just that search bar, stock Android is Google's UI. Nova launcher looks just like stock Android (or can be made to be if on a skinned phone) minus the search bar.

That's fine for you guys who root and all. I don't do that kind of stuff so I have to deal with what comes on the phone

Touchwiz is quite a bit more than the launcher. If you've seen the Note 3 video running Touchwizified Lollipop, then you'll see how heavy handed Samsung is with their UI.

Replacing the launcher is no big deal, just another app to install. Now Nova pretty much mimics the Google Now launcher exactly sans the swipe left for Google Now and you can opt to not have the search bar.

I can't wait to get mine. I'm flooding this place with screen shots. Haha. Yes, I'm definitely using nova.

except I could squeeze two screens full of apps into one......... but yes it was set up exactly the way I had my Nexus 5 just a lot of free real estate with the bigger screen and extra row/column of apps available....

Android is free..... Google Develop's it and pushes it out to the OEM's to use free of charge... They even rewrote the rules to Android that the Google stuff has to be front and center. Yes you can install a new launcher app and get rid of it but out the box that is what you get... Google makes 90% of their money off search so they want that search box front and center so you don't forget to use it.... Out the box it's going to be that way on every Android phone in the future... the customization of Android at least means there are ways to have it removed...

But that little white Google search box is their bread and butter.... The Nexus program is a pet project to Google... Android is their way to stay relevant in search as we move to Mobile....

Well, don't have my N6 yet, but did visit by a T-Mobile store today and checked it out - even more excited for it to (eventually) ship from Google Play!

I did find the following comparison between the amount of information displayed on the N6 vs N5 interesting - N6 shows a lot more:
