I attempted to buy a Nexus 6 from my local Best Buy this past weekend, since numerous reports stated they would start carrying the phone as of November 21st. As of Nov. 22nd it was not available in store, not available on their website, and neither the store manager nor the online email support reps could tell me when they would carry it in store.
The phone appeared on their website as of Midnight on Nov. 23rd, with an incorrect price listing to go with it. It was briefly listed at $199 with a 2 year contract, instead of $249. That was fixed within a few hours, but it still showed as not available for local pickup. So I did a search and obtain the email addresses for several Best Buy corporate executives. I only went with that extreme option because the numerous emails I was receiving from their customer service people were just plain insulting. One tried to sell me a Nexus 9 tablet, and two others just kept telling me to buy the phone online and refused to look into when I could purchase the phone in store.
I received a reply from one of my emails to the executives from a Nick Lillibridge, who calls himself a Executive Resolution Specialist. He looked into the issue of not being able to find the phone in store and has informed me that Best Buy will not ever be offering the Nexus 6 for purchase in their retail stores. The only way to purchase the phone from them is their website.
I made this account just to try and spread the word on this issue, since Best Buy hasn't bothered to be upfront about it. Below is a screenshot of the email, edited for privacy.
