Nexus 6P - Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

Nexus 6P update

Google has released 6.0.1. My Nexus 6P is at 6.0. When I go to settings > about phone > system updates ... It tells me that I am up to date.

I thought there Nexus phones got the update immediately.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Nexus 6P update

Nothing, its a staged rollout as usual, just wait for it, or flash the factory images.

6.01 Update and problems with phone

Hi guys,

I am exploring all options and the community here has a large collected knowledge of the Nexus phone and may be able to provide my answers. Trying to reach Google, but no luck today.

My Nexus 6P was operating perfectly on Verizon with 4G LTE connection performing flawlessly and camera absolutely great. Since the update I have not been able to get the 4G back. The screenshot below shows I am always on 3G I have compared to my son's phone in same location on same plan he is connected I am not.

Also since the update it is like my camera gallery has become locked. I cannot just go into the gallery to view pictures and the burst function no longer works.

I have cleared the cache called Verizon about the connectivity and will try Google again tomorrow. It was a long shot, but I thought someone here may have some thoughts about possible solutions. All help will be appreciated and thank you for whatever you can do.

I love the phone just trying to get back to where I was.

Try going to Settings > More > Cellular Networks > Access Point Names. Then click the 3 little dots then reset to default. Then reboot and see if that helps.

When you say camera gallery, do you mean tapping the little circle in the camera app? If so, I just tested this out. Looks like if you try and tap to view all your photos it does not work. However, if you snap a few pictures, then tap the circle, it'll show you the recently taken pictures.

Re: Nexus 6P update

Just be patient. I received it 2 days after it started, but I have friends that are still waiting. At least it will only be up to a couple weeks (maybe) instead of months like any other phone type. =)

I thought that with a Nexus 6P, all Google OS updates will take place for everyone at the same time. Just turned on my 6P for the first time and it did a small 15MB update but I'm still on Marshmallow 6.0

why didn't I get the update? This is the international unlocked version. I live in Dubai

Well you should still be on 6.0 Marshmallow -- The updates only goes to 6.0.1

You will get the update eventually. They roll it out in batches (not all at once).

Re: Android 6.0.1 Rolling Out Starting Today

I've noticed that when my phone is unlocked and I double tap the power button to start the camera, I take a picture and try to open it with my gallery app, but I have to unlock the phone before I view the pic. A minor annoyance.

Yeah well, as test I tried it just now, from what I noticed, Google play got screwed up after I cleared the data on the Framework and rebooted the phone. To fix it I had to clear the data on the Play store services to get it to work again so there is truth in that post. Can't wait to see what other apps will stop working.

disable the option to lock phone immediately when you press power button in settings. that will fix it

Anyone running into a text/mms issue with AT&T receiving as "unknown sender: message not available" since the update?

Used to get this ALL THE TIME on AT&T with Google Messenger, specifically in Group Chats where almost everyone else had an iPhone. AT&T told me to use the built-in SMS app on my then LG G3, but I started getting the error there too. So it's an AT&T thing. That said, I switched to VZW when I picked up the 6p and have not had the issue.

Re: Nexus 6P update

Google always does their rollout of Android updates over a week or two. At least part of this is because Google allows updates over cell data, unlike Apple, and this helps prevent an overload of the carrier's networks. Just be patient and you will get the update soon.

Re: Nexus 6P update

I have a Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi and a Nexus 6 on Verizon. Got the update on my tablet, but still waiting for it on the phone.

Thank you I tried this and it failed, but I lost all network connectivity thinking about it I realized something still left in my cache may have been blocking it. I then cleared my cache again and it is working like a charm. I did not know about that reset to default. I think that is what cleared everything up in the long run. so thank you very much. It worked.
