Nexus 6p huge security flaws

You didn't answer my question: Do you have trusted voice enabled?

Another question: Do you have Trusted Devices or Trusted Locations enabled?

Having a trusted device nearby, or being in a trusted location, is the only way I've been able to replicate the videos. And guess what? It's SUPPOSED to work that way.

If a trusted device is in range (100 meters) it would allow the phone to remain unlocked.

That phone in the 2nd video was NOT locked. Come on man. If the screen is off that doesn't mean the phone is always locked. It appears to me that you actually don't know how to secure your phone not a flaw. Nothing to see here.

I agree, there's something else going on here.

So here's the deal. You guys are probably right about trusted location, but how am I supposed to know to change the default out of the box setting to make it more secure? Wouldn't you think that the Google security folks would've made it secure default out of the box????

Trusted location is not on by default, you have to enable it yourself.

Trusted Locations, Voice, and Devices are something you set up. You may have done it accidentally just flicking through notifications/options. Personally, I LOVE those options.

Now... don't get me wrong. I'm not saying YOUR phone might not have a problem, but I think it's more likely you have a setting set to something you don't want. Check that first. Then ask for help if you don't know what you're doing. Then ask others if they're experiencing the same issue. Then, if others are, you can SUGGEST there might be a security bug.

Your post is alarming, and left everyone scratching their heads.

Please let me know if where in the settings I can turn the location on or off. Thanks

Goto Settings > Security > Smart Lock > input your PIN/Pattern. It will then show all of the options available for unlocking the device without your fingerprint, pin, or pattern. The options are On Body Detection, Trusted Places, Trusted Devices, Trusted Face, & Trusted Voice.

I tried to replicate on my 6P and was unable to. I agree this is probably a setting that is off or something else going on - but would be interested in knowing what specifically is happening.

Yeah, I can't replicate it either, that has to be set by the user unless it's a defect in the OS, which I doubt.

I think the TC will need to prove finger print and location smart lock are disabled, and then try it out.

So here's what I found out. Trusted location is off. Trusted voice is on ( my voice only), These were the settings and have not been changed at all

OP is correct. I've noticed this b/c I use voice memos constantly. If you can wake the phone up w/ "OK Google" the phone will unlock w/o you even needing to do anything. I have fingerprint sensor as my normal security.

EDIT: I see my home is listed as a trusted place. Forgot I set it up. Could be this that's allowing it to happen.

I don't own that phone and I don't know anything about it but , in the video at 1min 10 sec he picked up the phone and his hand goes to the back of the phone and then the screen comes on when it hits the ground.
I thought it was going to be a hands-free video.

Yeah ,,since you had your home set as a trusted place. That's like it has no security feature enabled while at home

Trusted Voice isn't perfect; it tries to recognize your voice MODEL, but I, for one, have no idea what that means. I'm guessing your boys' voices fit the bill.

I have Trusted Voice disabled precisely because it's not very secure. Again though: that's a choice between security and convenience. I do, however, have Trusted Devices and Locations turned on. A thief would have to be in my house, or have also stolen one of my trusted devices.
