Nexus 6P no longer able to work with automated menu call prompts.....help!

My Nexus 6P stopped being able to choose any options when I would call into my company help line. For ex. "Dial 1 for sales, or 2 for customer support".... This is my work phone and essentially renders it worthless to me. I do not want to factory reset because I don't believe that is the solution. I have sifted through other forums but not found a solution for this phone. Can anyone shed some light for me?
 
Are you still hearing keypad tones when you press the numbers, or is it silent?

This is a long shot, but give it a try:
In the phone app, tap the three dot menu (top right) and select "Settings".
In the Settings menu select "Sounds and vibration" ,
and in that screen make sure the "Dial Tones" item is selected (ticked).
