Nexus 6P - printer spooler stopped?

Got this message every single time I tried to print a document from my phone to my printer via WiFi. Logged onto the same wifi as the printer. Have sent documents before from my 2015 mxpe and prior Android devices but this is the second or third time the 6p hasn't worked. This is always followed by me having to email my wife the document, which her iPhone has no problem sending to the printer. Maddening. Anyone else have this problem?

What printer do you have? What printer app are you using?

I'm using a canon pixma mg series. I have the canon printer apps installed and also the Google cloud print service.

Yes. It's not a problem on the end of the printer. It's a problem on the phones end. Thanks though
