Nexus 6p rapidly charging - not always

Sometimes my 6p indicates that it's not rapidly charging. Going over some threads I realized that some people recommend rebooting the phone. Thus has actually worked a couple of times. But lately it has not worked, and the problem is intermittent. What gives? I get the same problem if I try another usb-c cable though. Problem comes and goes... Frustrating to say the least. Any advice?

Does this happen with the original cable and charging plug, or are you only using 3rd party ones?

I found this to be my problem as well, with the OEM cable and plug it always rapidly charges, but with 2nd party cables it's hit or miss.

Frankly I haven't been able to make sense of the 'Rapidly charging' reporting by the firmware. I've had the device at 90% charge and used Ampere https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...etails?id=com.gombosdev.ampere&token=wgSNK5N9 to observe the current/voltage and seen nothing to indicate that the device should be fast charging, but nevertheless that's what the firmware reports. Guess I need remedial education in Google's Rapid Charging initiative.
