Nexus 6P: Reviews and Unboxings Thread

MKBHD's review was pretty glowing too. He also mentioned getting 3.5-4 hours of screen on time for the battery, and I'm willing to bet he's a power user. That's really good news to me.

On Reddit, he has provided some complementary informations about that :
* He use the phone at 90% brightness
* He uses Spotify a lot.

Awesome. I officially have no worries about the 6P's battery life! Which I guess is odd considering how big the battery is, but the early reviews weren't getting as much mileage as I expected. But I generally stay at 50% brightness and mostly use the phone for texting and Googling.

"4 hrs, 32 minutes SOT. 45 minutes Google Maps navigation. Plenty of Twitter and Reddit. 1 hour+ of Spotify + Bluetooth. Screen always at or near 90% brightness."

Directly from MKBHD on reddit. This was about 15 hours off the charger. he ended the day with 9% battery life.

Here's my first look and impressions video: https://youtu.be/sdcvJ87J25k

It's super premium. Feels like a Note 5 with the crisp edges but a much better back. Camera seems fast, though I didn't take many pictures. Just an unboxing. Enjoy!

I'd love to hear some comparisons from you between the 6P and 6s Plus once you've had it for a little while longer.

I just received my Nexus 6P. Has anyone else experience casting their phone? I have Roku 3. When I go into screen cast it doesn't show any devices. When I click the settings icon in the top right, where it normally says enable wireless display and help and feedback, it only shows the help and feedback option. However I can cast directly from YouTube to the YouTube app on my Roku. Any suggestions?

Multiwindow is in the dev settings but not active yet. I had note 2, note 10.1, and G2 and never used multiwindow after newness wore off.
Double tap to wake would mess with ambient display settings. But the fingerprint sensor is faster than double tapping if you hold the phone.

I leave my phone sitting on my desk at work, so double tap is by far the best option.

I've got to say that on my limited time with the 6P (24 hours) I am somewhat disappointed.
Google Play store crashed about 15 times during setup. Random reboots a few times.
My biggest disappointment with the phone is the battery. I was so excited for the Doze feature and tried it out. 100% charge, no apps runningrunning. 7 hours later, sitting on table next to my bed? Battery at 53%.
Did a factory reset, since all tech support has you do this. During setup the Play Store crashed a bunch more times.
Called tech support. The woman on the phone knew nothing. Why would someone at Huawei Tech support ask me which Nexus phone I was calling about. Had to put me on hold to ask someone what to do every step.
Now I find out that for warranty support, if they decide to repair it, I have to send it to them and will be without a phone while they decide what is wrong. And now with Google Fi, I can't use another phone while waiting unless I have a spare Nexus 6 or newer laying around.
Maybe Huawei is not ready for the US market yet.
