Nexus 6p to Pixel 3 XL

"hiding" the notch - switching it to black background and using it for notification icons is good use of "real estate". Then pixel 3xl looks bearable (arguably). regardless the notch it is very good package, if not the best. Though it is pricey. I'm still considering buying last year Pixel 2XL or OnePlus 6T

After 3 years I am finally upgrading from the Nexus 6p. I have had it replaced 3 times for the battery. The last one seems to be doing well as after a year it is still at 95% capacity. However there have been other issues with the phone that seem to be getting worse. The phone heats up and slows down more often. It can be very slow to respond. The responsiveness of the camera and its focusing has gotten worse. There are some other issues. It is posssible that a factory reset and a fresh install would solve most of these issues. But after 3 years I am ready to move on.

My wife is having even worse issues with her 6p.

One of the things I have always hated about the 6p design and looks like it is continuing on the Pixel 3 XL. Is that all the buttons are right on top of each other.

The Pixel 3XL is not my ideal phone but for my uses it is the best choice on the market right now. I can't see my 6p surviving another year. At least three times a week I want to toss it out the window.

I will move on from the 3 XL when there is a compelling reason to do so. That is the reason I held onto the 6p so long. Sure the Pixels were an upgrade but not enough to make me say "I have to have that new phone."

Coming up on 3 years with my 6P as well, but also pre-ordered the Pixel 3 XL and according to Google it's scheduled to arrive to me tomorrow. I've loved my 6P and generally don't have too many major problems with it, but I'm looking forward to the upgrade. The screen should be an improvement, the camera is going to be a dream, the build quality is supposed to be significantly better, and with the SD 845 the performance and battery life should be major improvements.

I'm especially excited because I've started to notice my 6P slowing down a bit (we knew that SD 810 chip was going to be less than ideal eventually) and the battery life just isn't there, even after having replaced the battery 8 or 9 months ago. It's been a good run, and I'll probably hold onto my 6P to use as a travel phone or something like that, but I'm definitely looking forward to the upgrade.

I pre-ordered a 3XL, but canceled before it ever got here. When I played with it at Best Buy I didn't see hardly any difference relative to my 2XL--except sure, the screen quality. Even the bigger screen is no big deal to my eye, and I don't have to deal with the notch as a bonus. Not worth the $900 for the upgrade.

On top of that 5g is right around the corner and I'll be stunned if the Pixel 4 doesn't have it.

Made it an easy decision to hold off and wait until next year.

The jump from the Pixel 2 to the 3 is pretty small. But from the Nexus 6P, it's going to be a major change.

Don’t know how some of you lasted so long with N6P...after 1 year mine had reboot and connectivity issues constantly. That’s when the lawsuits were coming out and it was clear the device had overall issues...so I got rid of it.

When it was working as expected, incredible device. Build, picture quality, screen, OS performance...incredible device.

I loved my 6p.
In fact I didn't feel the need to upgrade to the pixel 1 when it came out and waited for the pixel 2xl, which I have currently.
The pixel 2xl was a pretty big upgrade and now I'm waiting on my replacement (1st one was broke) 3xl and while I don't expect a huge change, I'm sure it will make me happy.
The jump from 6P to pixel 3xl will be huge for anyone doing that.
Good luck

My 6P had to be replaced because it shut down and never restarted. The replacement 6P was a crap referb the screen wasn't fully sealed, the battery goes from 90 % to shutting down and on restart 3%. I don't have the money to upgrade to a Pixel or any other phone. Had to down grade to my HTC ONE M7, running Android L. Hope your upgrade is for the better for you.
