Nexus 7 2013 Left Speaker Problem

The left speaker of my 32gb Nexus 7 2013 sounds blown. It's very scratchy and distorted at any volume. The Right speaker is fine. I originally bought this from Amazon. Would I have to send it back to ASUS for repair or will the Google Play store be able to do a replacement (Much faster). How long does this generally take for a replacement?

From what I have read, after the initial return period (30 days for Amazon) you have to send it back to Asus, and people are seeing a 2-3 week repair period.

You can't send it back to the Play Store if you did not buy it there to begin with.
