Nexus 7 just wont load

My son has a Nexus 7 for mostly gaming but it wont get beyond the load screen (4 colored revolving balls) I've tried shutting it down, restart boot loader, recovery and power off functions and no change - still only get load screen and nothing more. Any ideas?? I've tried disconnecting the power, leaving it on charge over night but nothing makes a difference - Help
