Nexus 7 Now Available

Apparently some online retailers have them already and have officially started selling them today.

Nexus 7 arrives: here's where you can buy it right now | The Verge

Eubuyers consumers won't get it until 7/19
Adorama actually still don't have the N7 and might get them to today. FYI if you go to there site you can add to the cart and they have disclaimer on the N7 that goes like this "*Note: Please Note! This Item is on the way to our warehouse and is expected in a few d...?" They might get it today but doesn't mean they can sell it today. Google has not let anyone down. The retail stores are just leaking or speculating information on there own behalf and nothing to do with Google. Google has the final say on when retailers can sell their product and Google has not stated anything.

I ordered within an hour of the conference ending on June 27, so I'm pretty sure I'll be in the first wave. My UPS guy ALWAYS leaves my packages at my door hidden behind my patio junk, so I should be good to go if he gets there while I'm gone.

If you go back to the source link it says Adorma has received 30 units and have started selling them, they also have a picture for proof. I want mine:mad:!

Ordered from Adorama on the phone, had them in stock, received email confirmation and all. However, an hour later, received email from customer service saying my order is delayed, and that they can't send them out at this time. I wonder why Google is not allowing retailers that have it in stock from actually shipping them out today?

Seems like the pre-orders won't go out until late next week at the earliest.

My local Gamestop has them in stock too. They did not know the release date. So much for pre-ordering.

I think that I am going to refuse shipment just to prove a point. Why pay shipping when I can stop by on my way home from work and buy one in store?

What I dont understand is why Google has everyone in the dark? Why not say a release date? Or at least dont release the release date to consumers but release it to te retail stores so they at least have an idea. If Asus is shipping them to retailers then why are we and the retailers still in the dark about when we can get our hands on them? I would prefer they say July 31st then say Mid July and have retailers saying they have them already. Your playing with my emotions Google!

There must be some final fixes/updates going into the device. Often not possible to provide exact ETAs on software.

I hope it's not neutered universal search.

I don't know why everyone is so honked off by the loss of this "universal search." I can't think of once I wanted to search locally on my device for anything. I know where stuff is. If I want a contact, I search in contacts. If I want an app, it's alphabetical in my drawer. What's the big deal?

Local search is pretty useful if you travel a lot. I use it frequently.

Edit: I may have misunderstood what local search is......if it is like the old Pre way of "just type"...yeah I never use that.

Yes, it's like the "just type" on the Pre. I didn't use it on my Pre, and I don't use it on my Android.

To clear up the GameStop hodge podge, don't knock the sales associates.
We were told the date was pushed back from Thursday 7-12 and the date is now listed as TBD. Preorders on the second wave ended today, SD for 8/7. No idea what the date for the third wave will be.

I work for GameStop and preordered mine, so did a coworker of mine. We are both very impatient about not being able to take our home yet as our two are sitting under lock and key.

Also, if I am not mistake, you do not pay the shipping for picking up a preorder. Saw that mentioned in a previous post. At least according to policy in my district, that's how it is.

Lady.gray18, since you work at gamestop how realistic was the 7/12 release date? I assume your store would have had signage that needed to go up. Also confirmation phone calls/emails/text had to be sent to customers. Just seems kind of odd that those automated confirmations didn't leak out to a few customers that the preorder is ready for pickup before google interjected.

We haven't received any signage for it yet. My store doesn't sell them. I'm curious now and going to call the store that sells tablets in general and see if they received any marketing instructions.

From what I have read online so far though, the 19th seems like a very probable date.

I feel like I did when I was waiting for the Thunderbolt all over again.

Sounds like this going to turn into a big mess. I already know that my 7 is under lock and key at GS

For me, this is fast becoming like the Verizon Galaxy Nexus wait, which was torture. Still, I'll take waiting for Google rather than waiting for Verizon any day of the week.

Already thinking where I can buy one next week and avoid the shipping charge, since it doesn't look like I'll get mine before I leave town Saturday afternoon.

I called my GS and they said the had two pre-ordered devices in store, and my name was on one of them. They also originally said the release date would be September, and I laughed heartily at that. I expect to be able to get it early next week, but the GS employee didn't have any more information other than my N7 was in the store. At least that was a positive, as long as it doesn't get swiped by someone else, which I can't imagine happening (though I just did imagine that - I've never been so excited waiting for a tech device. It's kinda like when a new CD of a favorite band is coming out or some great movie...just release the N7 already, would ya!)

I'll call them again tomorrow just to see what the new answer is....

It's possible that Google put the kabosh on retail release at a corporate level to allow adequate time for the Google pre-orders to be shipped and received (1st and 2nd wave). If that's the case, September from GS would be about right. The store manager could get in a bit of a jam by corporate if they were to release any, even pre-orders through GS.

We're all speculating and supposing though, we'll have to see after this thing plays out.

Mine is pre-order on the 28th (1st wave) through Google Play, I'll bide my time.

Just had a good laugh from Office Depot. They sent me an email last night with this subject.

Be the 1st! Pre-order your Nexus 7 Google Tablet Today

Open the email and there is a button to click to pre-order. Wonder if I could be first if I cancel my Google Play and pre-order here...hmmmmm

:D
