Nexus 7 speaker blown?

My nexus 7 had similar symptoms. Found a fix over on XDA - take the back cover off (youtube can help) and then lightly press on each speaker. One of my speakers had popped up (the black acoustic cover prevented me from seeing this though). It very noticeably popped back into place.

Sounds MUCH better. Still get distortion at 100%, but it is much better than it was.

I've had mine since christmas and the speaker blew this morning, I thinks it's the bass because at low volume I cannot notice distortion (this sounds like something moving or interuppting the driver). I never had my nexus at full volume, I use headphones the majority of the time so my almost spanking new tablet blew with little under 3 hours of total speaker playtime. I noticed that it didn't go as I was playing something, it just happened overnight. Any suggestions for a fix? I have insurance, should I take it back?

Found a vid that will help, sort of. If you check the comments for me, you'll see where I used a piece of foam instead of his solution. Not to spoil the ending but FYI, you still have one good speaker.....

Thanks to your vid, I opened mine up. But having called google on 12/19/12 to take advantage of their "rapid replacement" warranty, I didn't want to do anything permanent or even hot glue'ish. But tiring of ear buds and being that I still haven't received my promised (twice now) RMA and/or shipment notification (01/04/13) I had to do something. So having read somewhere else a while back about foam, I snipped a piece (1/4x1/4x1/4 roughly) from my mattress pad and placed it over the offending speaker. Wa La... problem solved. At least the one problem, still waiting on google. 17 days kinda takes the rapid outta rapid replacement huh....

Mine has the same problem as the posters I am mad the audio quality is distorted and crappy to say the least and considering watching YouTube is my primary use for this tablet I am quite disappointed.

My sounded bad too but I asked people if theirs had did that and some said yes and they fixed it by turning it off for 5mins and I did that to mine and it worked. So if u haven't tried that try it:)

Sorry to seem lazy, but I can't seem to locate the appropriate number to call. My speakers blew a couple of weeks ago. Did they give you any hassle? I bought mine through gamestop 's website, do you think this will make a difference? Thanks in advance for any help.

855-836-3987 for google support..

Keep in mind that they will have you do a full factory reset, so everything will be erased...

So after five weeks of ownership and having never pushed the volume past 50% (I knew the speaker could be dodgy and didn't want to tempt fate) my speaker is now showing all the symptoms described above.

Great! :(

Mine is broken also the other speake. I tried the other poster to make use only the other speaker and it works but it too low.
My co-worker here find speaker from Motorola phone and i tried and it work very well. I just break/cut the other speaker and put the one from the phone :)
