Nexus 7 - stuck in safe mode - volume button not working

Hi,

For the last few days, my nexus 7 had problems with volume button not working. However, I thought it was not a big deal as I could control volume from settings option. However, today my nexus 7 has got stuck with safe mode - disabling all my regular apps. On power up, I get a strange message :
Fastboot mode
Product name = grouper
MW version - ER3
Bootloader version - 4.23
Base band version - N/A

Somebody help!!!
