Nexus 9 lag. Is it just me?

I've noticed over the last month or so sluggish performance on my device. There are times my apps freeze forcing me to shut them down in order to restart them. Also, the home screen has flashed at times whereas only the icons show and the background is black. Here's hoping the update solves this issue too!

Yup I have the same problems. Home screen reloading issues and random freezes and delays. Also a lot of little bugs (way too many to list) that I have noticed. I still like the tablet though, but I would say that this is the buggiest tablet/device I have ever owned. Hoping 5.1 fixes it.

It does have its issues, however, all of the tech I've owned including the N7 2013 have had issues from time to time. Even my Apple ipod touch would act screwy. It's pretty much the nature of the beast.

This device has many more little problems than any other nexus tablet. For me its mostly little software glitches and whatnot as I got a pretty good one hardware wise.

This is my first Nexus device and I have been pretty disappointed with the performance. I'm glad to hear it's not just me!

I'm hopeful that a future software update will address these issues.

Also, stupid question, but how do you restart the device? I only see power down, not a restart option like I have on my Galaxy phone devices.

An earlier comment mentioned a 3rd party launcher. Has that helped anybody? Is that worth looking into?

I've noticed there's no "close all apps" option either. Do they not want you doing this?

Restart and close all apps are not part of stock android. Samsung adds those options in their devices. You can push and hold the power button for 10 or so seconds until the device restarts but I would not recommend that on a daily basis as it is analogous to pulling the battery and probably isn't the best for the device.
As far as 3rd party launchers I have no clue as I have never used one. I'm happy with the stock google now launcher. I guess you could call me boring? ;)

What's odd is I went into safe mode the other day (3 days ago) by pressing power then long pressing shut down on screen. The tablet ran fine then rebooted back into "normal."

Since then I've had zero home screen redraws or issues I had previously. I attest it makes no sense and might be delusions on my part, but just sharing.
